We had an amazing time in Kotatuli - staying with a local family (and their dogs) really makes a trip to Lapland very special and personal. Living in the middle of the forest is such a treat to relax and unwind, plus you get to see the Northern Lights driving there. Totally recommended!

From the moment we got in, we noticed that every single item, furniture, kitchen stuff was chosen from the highest quality! Felt like I entered my mom’s kitchen (every single kitchen tool you think of is there) It was super-easy to find the place, location is perfect for get away ( make sure you have enough supplies if no car). I loved the fact that we had to witness the Aurora ( northern lights) from our windows! Went out and seen it all over the sky. We LOVED the fire camp, we light up fire there, everything was already there for us to do that. The owner was passing by and he was kind enough to offer us a ride to the supermarket as we didn’t have a car and we wanted few things from there. Hmmmmm it’s really the perfect stay for getaway/ and northern lights seeing.

We stayed for 6 nights, departing on 23rd December and can honestly say this place is magical, in the middle of the forest on the edge of a lake, a tranquil winter wonderland! The indoor sauna was perfect for warming us after a day in the cold and the outdoor hot tub was amazing, from which we saw the aurora on 2 of the 6 nights (a truly bucket list moment). There is a steep hill running from the property down to the lake which the kids absolutely loved sledging down and had endless fun with (sledges all provided by the property). Inside of the property was immaculately presented with everything you could ever need for a stay of any duration, tastefully decorated and we even had a Christmas tree 😃. Katja was an amazing host and kept us updated where needed via what’s app which was perfect.

We recently visited as two families with children ranging from 2-11 and what a fabulous time we had! From the minute we booked the host responded to messages quickly and when we arrived just we fell in love with the property. It was clean and spacious and had all the little extras there. From salt and pepper to washing up liquid to a little bit of soap powder it was available to make our stay easy. Local supermarket was 10 minutes away and an easy drive to Rovaniemi and SCV. The kids loved the sleds provided and spent hours just wanting to play outside. The scenery was stunning and we were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights. Would definitely return!
