The hotel was a little out of the way but a nice quiet area. The menu was ok but repetitive as we had been staying at another Itoen hotel and it was very similar. The bedding was comfortable the onsen was great. Overall very good value for money.

This booking was so much more than we expected! As a family of 6, it was wonderful to have so many amenities available. The views all around are stunning- we stopped at Kiyotsu gorge, sightsaw the Uonuma Skyline, took in the mountain reflections in the rice terraces, and stopped at 3 foot baths in the area. They even allowed our dog to stay too! Highly recommend booking Urasa Cottage. Thank you for the hospitality and wonderful stay!

Excellent food and facilities, stunning surroundings and very friendly staff. I would choose this everytime above Nikko, just check the road conditions beforehand. They also have a shuttle bus service. Everything is thought through with thermos mugs in the rooms for a relaxing morning stroll after breakfast.

The place is very cozy and clean, the food is very delicious and there is a lot of variety of dishes in each emeal. The cost is also very affordable. The staff are very accommodating and nice. This place is highly recommended for those who wanted to relax and enjoy the winter.They have a shuttle bus coming from the train station. And have onsite free parking. Will definitely come again.

Everything about my stay here was great 👍 It was very comfortable, clean and in good condition. The owner was very nice and helpful and easy to communicate with🙂 It is in a very peaceful area and it is a short walk from the train station which is very useful. I will definitely want to stay here again when I return to this town.

Kutsurogian was an outstanding location with a wonderful building and amazing views from the rooms. Most of all, the staff were excellent. They made our stay both relaxing and fun, and went above and beyond at every opportunity to help us get out and about during the day, along with providing pick up and drop off from the Shinkansen stations. The meals were magnificent. Breakfast and dinner were large meals with top-quality ingredients, and wonderful service. The dining rooms offer western or japanese seating, and there is even an irori (traditional hearth), which was a real treat. The onsen has two spaces, offering indoor and outdoor baths in both, and allow reservation by room in the evening so you can bathe with your partner. I cannot imagine how nice it will be when snowing. We were looking for a quiet weekend away from Tokyo, and chose Minamiuonuma in Niigata prefecture as somewhere new to visit. It was not a busy time of year as snow season had not yet started. The local Hakkeisan brewery district and Koji factory were fun things to visit, and there is plenty more within a day trip. I recommend that you ideally have a hire car to explore, but it is not essential, as the staff helped us out with drop off and pickup during the day. An unforgettable 3 nights at a magical place.
