Kitchen facility was excellent. Hosts were brilliantly friendly and supplied excellent advice on local attractions. i.e. Sherwood Forest, Robin Hood stuff, industrial history (coal mining museums).

For us it was perfect., loved it.

Amazing place, so relaxing, clean and tidy in the lodge and the surrounding areas. All around perfect place to go too. Highly recommend.

The property was absolutely beautiful, in a stunning location with amazing views. It was a fantastic place for a group of us to get together for a pre-Christmas celebration. The house had been beautifully decorated for Christmas and, after a lovely walk around the local area, followed by a drink in the local pub, it was a great place to have a meal and relax together.

The property was easy to access driving north to Edinburgh. Wish we would have know there was a restaurant right next to the property. Staff was very friendly upon checkin in. We did not have lounge children with us but there was a little play group next to the restaurant. Our stay was short but perfect for a nights rest and was very affordable. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in.

We had the most delightful stay! The bed was absolutely divine – so comfortable I didn’t want to leave it in the morning. A bedside table would have been handy, but honestly, the comfort made up for it. The bath was a dream, and I’m gutted I only stayed one night – next time, I’m definitely making time to soak! The host Dan was fantastic – his communication was speedy and the thoughtful touches like fresh milk, tea, coffee, and even ice in the freezer made us feel right at home. The location couldn’t have been better. A lush curry house and a peaceful woodland walk right at the end of the road? Ideal for us and my dog! We even managed a proper lie-in, as the area was so blissfully quiet – a real treat for us, being used to the hustle and bustle of Bristol city life. What really stood out was the warmth of the local community. The ladies at the tea shop by the castle were so lovely, and lunch at the Sanctuary was perfect – delicious food, relaxed vibes, and a welcoming spot for both humans and lazy pups. This place truly felt like a proper northern hug, Can’t wait to return!
