United StatesTruly a place upon which we had high expectations; this wonderful Mamaq Tambo Lodge did not disappoint! Finding Cocachimba with spotty cell coverage and incomplete info from downloaded google maps, proved to be difficult as the town of Cocachimba is substantially off the main road ( Hghwy 5). Our host, Carmen couldn’t have been more wonderful , providing needed directions, then meeting us in the village and leading us to the lodge! Despite any difficulty with directions getting there,our experience was not tainted in any way! Our cabin , with its awe inspiring view of surrounding mountains and Gocta Waterfall, was beyond excellent and it had a wonderfully peaceful porch we thoroughly enjoyed after several hard days of touring and trekking . The location is perfect for trekking to Gocta Falls, and not too far from traveling to Kuelap ( one of our most favorite sites in Peru!) We were served deliciously outstanding suppers and breakfasts over our 3 night stay, and climbing to the overlook on the property to watch the sunset is
an experience definitely not to be missed!! Carmen and Francesco have done fantastic work of design , building, landscaping and creation of a truly special environment to make guests feel at home in an Andes mountain paradise!! If you’re staying in the Cocachimba area, Mamaq is must stay !!!

Right at the trailhead to Gocta waterfall which is stunning Solar showers,so hot water 24/7,plus an excellent WiFi connection.You wont find a better place.

The owner, and his wife and family were all very welcoming and kind. They help with whatever you need.

ItalyIt is a hostel in the middle of a very wonderful green land overlooking the valley. Because of the location, do not expect everything to be perfect like in a town hotel. Also, I was a little worried after reading a review complaining about feeling pressured and seeing sick animals, but it is completely untrue. The dogs and cats are reasonably well and most of all loving and loved. Of course they are not home pets, they live in nature and can get occasionally hurt but, as I personally witnessed, promptly looked after by the owner. Richard, the owner, is a passionate person and also loving and sensitive. I can understand that some people from cold climates (different culture) can feel pressured because people in South America are warm and blunt but, being myself from South Europe, I had no problem not only to relate to him but also to tell him to his face what I did not like about the place (the lack of wifi, etc.) and he was just fine with it and we spent good time together in the evening laughing and singing. In short, a beautiful experience.

United StatesGreat location, 10 minutes walk to the main square, there is a market nearby and across the road are the colectivos going to the Sonche canyon. The room we had was spacious, the beds were comfortable and the shower hot.
There is a shared kitchen available for use where you can cook basic meals with the equipment available.
The staff is kind and helpful. The owner Manuel also speaks perfect English.

Stunning views from our lodge in a truly unique setting. The design of the room made the most of the view of the waterfall, being able to see it from the bed in the morning. The food was also delicious with local Peruvian dishes and ingredients. The staff were all very helpful and we also loved the two dogs and one cat!

This property is amazing! Such a beautiful and peaceful area, the accommodation was very comfortable, clean, and luxurious. Breakfast was made to order by an onsite cook. Bathroom was nice and clean, soap is provided. Location is great - right beside the trail leading to the Gocta waterfall. All in all I highly recommend.

This hotel is incredible. The staff are wonderful, so friendly and attentive. The location is spectacular. We loved the pool and the bar, the food was excellent. The walking tours to Gocta falls and the hummingbird sanctuary which the hotel organised were great, they even provide a packed lunch. The town of Cocachimba is small but we really liked it! Overall an amazing stay!
