Pet-friendly hotels and homes in South Sulawesi

I visited during Ramadan, and the family cooked all of my meals since the restaurants in the area were closed. The facilities are very simple and there is no wifi, but if you're thinking of visiting Rammang Rammang, I would strongly recommend this place.

The Homestay has a very good location, the bed are comfortable and the bathroom has hot water. the highlight of the stay is Nasrul and his whole family. Nasrul will take you to amazing places, make you do unique experiences and this will easily become an unforgettable part of you travel. Plus his sister is an amazing chef! The whole family made our stay perfect.

Room was large and clean. Nice outside sitting area with lovely small garden. Convenient location as base for exploring. Daud was an excellent guide and most helpful in all aspects of my stay. So happy I stayed with this family in their most inviting Homestay.

If you're looking to stay in an actual Tongkonan that was not built as a guesthouse this is it. As it's a traditional Tongkonan its extremely basic. Think of it more like camping than a regular hotel or bnb. Inside there's plenty of space but it's sparsely furnished. Nice seating area below the house. Shared toilet/shower block is well maintained and clean. Breakfast as well as some basic drinks are provided by the family. Lovely views of the surrounding rice fields from the property. Lots of farm animals on site. All in all it feels like a very authentic experience just as the name implies. The guesthouse is located a few kilometers outside of town on a small hill. Easily reachable by scooter which John, the manager, can provide for a very reasonable price. If you don't want to drive yourself John is also always willing to give you a lift wherever you want to go. John also provides guided tours to the funerals and surrounding attractions as well as guided hikes. We took a night bus from Makassar to the property and John picked us up from the bus stop at 5am which was great. He speaks excellent English as well as French. Possibly not the cheapest guide you can find but super friendly and knowledgeable. We would highly recommend hiring John as a guide as well as the Authentique home stay.

Staying in a traditional Tongkonan was such a unique experience with a fantastic view. The inside is made with so much love and good taste. Eventhough the room itself was simple it was always clean and the bathroom was lovely. From the moment we stepped inside Meyskes home we felt like it was our home as well. Meyske introduced us to her culture like we have never experienced during our travels. 100% recommended if you plan to visit Tana Toraja. If you need anything you can always ask her or her super nice mom they were always there to help, whether it was the most delicious food, hot water to shower or a tee because my husband was sick. The tour with Meyske was our highlight of Tana Toraja, she makes sure you fit in as a tourist so you can enjoy the culture as much as possible. Thank you Meyske, come visit us in Germany :)
