Proximity to the river, ability to watch wildlife close to the cabin, friendliness of owners, chance to explore Mayan ruins. Philip, who acts as the fishing guide, provided a varied experience that included bushwhacking to a beautiful secluded lake. Day usually began and ended with a home-cooked meal right by the river bank. There is a spring fed swimming pool we didn't take advantage of if the ideas of swimming with the crocodiles in the river doesn't appeal.

Chan Chich is amazing! There's a LOT of things to like. The birding was excellent. We stayed 3 night and identified almost 100 bird species (on our own). Being able to explore the (non-excavated) Mayan ruins (mounds) on the property was amazing. There were plenty of hiking trails to keep us busy. The accommodations were quiet and comfortable for the 3 of us. The breakfast and available coffee was excellent.

It was absolutely beautiful here. So peaceful. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They were also great with our children. The food was beautiful. The hand made ice cream is a must!
