Absolutely amazing place, window view in the room was astonishing, and you can enjoy the whole mountain view by yourself before and after the business hour of the cable car.
The host and staff were also kind, breakfast was delicious.

Very nice city.
Very nice city. Please stay for a night to be able to visit the city on evening or early morning when there are less tourists. Visit the side streets, they are even more interesting than the main one and there are no tourists. I recommend to eat at Schirmbar Hallstatt (Umbrella Bar Hallstatt). It's expensive, like everywhere else (be ready to leave 80-100 EUR for two), but the food (especially fish) is good. Also bring cash, Austrians still live in the Stone Age as many places do not accept cards.

Mesmerizing views all around and one can spend quality time over here. Very well connected with public transport and can move easily to any tourist attractions. Surrounded by natural beauty, away from tourist crowd and very scenic.

It's close to Hallstatt, but without the big crowds and with better accommodations. It's easy to reach Hallstatt and the cable car. It has gorgeous mountain views everywhere you look. The pizzeria in Obertraun was nice (it has a lot more than pizzas). But we really enjoyed the restaurant "Uferwirt Seeraunzn" which is about 30 minutes by car or train (Obersee station), but it's worth getting there. The location is perfect with a view over the lake and towards Hallstatt. The food is also great and reasonably priced.

Perfect location, very easy to find , countless free parking spaces. Immaculate. Very good restaurant. Highly recommended for couples.
The only drawback is confirmation of reservation needed by verifying your credit card.

Excellent for bigger group (we were 5 parents and 8 juniors...
Excellent for bigger group (we were 5 parents and 8 juniors - schoolmates). Spacious, well equiped kitchen, living/dining room as a meeting place.... Nice place with lookout to Loser.
The only thing we would do differently while building the cottage - the upper bathroom might had been divided into two part - one for shower and the other one for WC, there is enought space for that. But, thanks to the other bathroom on 1st floor....
We would definitely recommend....

Travel photos look beautiful & picturesque - BUT - that is not what you see in person. If you walk to the end of the lane/street, you can finally get that perfect shot - but the walk, the homes & buildings are shabby, in disrepair, touristy, gimmicky, VERY limited food choices with "pizza" that looks as tastes like it is cheap stuff from the freezer (cardboard/tasteless). Good if you are getting off tour bus, walking down street for an hour, then back on bus and leave. Not worth staying overnight. Houses along the walk are ill kept, weeds everywhere, mops/brooms on front steps and junk. signs telling tourists to "be quiet". They are hawking themselves and profiting from overpriced/low quality food, tourist junk, guest houses - but are unwelcoming to tourists. Somes views are picturesque, but travel photos are much better than reality. We drove all over Austria for 3 weeks and had wonderful, gorgeous, memorable, WELCOMING experiences - this Halstatt was nothing but DISAPPOINTING

The accommodation had great view and the balcony was so Cousy, I could sit whole evening there to spend some quality time. The location is beautiful and relaxing. My kids enjoyed lot. Special thanks to providing such a variety of toys and activity stuff for kids, they really got occupied with activities while at apartment.

Honestly its lessons learned for me is to have cash as except few vendors rest all only deal in cash including the governmental running public transport like buses only demand for cash for tickets.(I had horrible experience with this).
Bit expensive, very limited options for food, restaurants, supermarket, etc. In the restaurants dont dare to ask for extra plate, even a tap water as everything is additionally charged :D. Be ready for long walks, and well aware about the last ferry, bus rides.
Personally I felt people there are bit rude and not helpful, doesnt really matter as you are just another tourist to them a source of earning, thats it. dont take it personally, enjoy the nature and move along :)

Being surrounded by mountains and walking trails. I think Gosau is known for skiing in the winter but we were there in mid September and the weather was perfect for walking along the river and lakes. Cool but sunny

You do not, i repeat, you do not want to come to this place...
You do not, i repeat, you do not want to come to this place with your own car. Parking here is a nightmare. Also you have to take a lot of cash with you because local businesses here do not accept card payments. Prices are high as you would expect in one of the most favoured tourist attractions in this country. Lot of day visitors and too many people lining up for the restaurants. Weirdly enough many of them were closed in high season. At this time the viewpoint up to the mountain was unavailable and under construction with some noisy helicopter running above.
