Unfortunately, we hadn't planned to stay for more than the one night, so we missed the chance to see around the area - in particular to visit the local war memorials, which we understand are very moving and must be seen! We hope to rectify this in the future.

Dranouter is approximately 8 miles from leper , and was very handy for my two night stop, leper was very handy to visit as were all the commonwealth world war one historical routes. The staff and food and accommodation were first class. The hotel sits on fabulous countryside, ideal for country walks and cycling. Would certainly stay here again on my next trip, absolutely fantastic.

Hostellerie Kemmelberg is in a stunning but rather sad...

Hostellerie Kemmelberg is in a stunning but rather sad location as it overlooks "Flanders Field" where there are memorials to WW1 fighters every few km, including one 200 m down the lane. The location is great, the food can be excellent, BUT be warned, you are fed at the discretion of an arrogant and dismissive Chef, who is entirely happy for you to wait 2 hours between courses, while he potters about doing other things. You thought you were there to eat, he has other ideas. You have been warned...
