Excellent location, right on the beach and close to the main street. The place is very well maintained and feels like a Brazilian jungle paradise. Beyond that, we had a small issue and received service above and beyond - handled quickly and with great care. Many thanks for the kindness and support.

The room are very spacious, very clean and very comfortable. The services are considerate, they even arrange a routine to help guests to prevent Mosquitos. They also provide a big bottle of watter for free in the mini bar. It has a third party restaurant right inside the posada which is super nice, perfect food and drink. It is 20 minutes walk from the centre, which you can access to it easily along the beach.

Wonderful location, the rooms are quiet and in a beautiful garden - like a sanctuary! I loved waking up to the birds chirping and seeing the friendly cat and dog around the property. Breakfast was wonderful every morning. They also have beach chairs and umbrellas complimentary with the resort and a pool with a swim up bar. Everything right there ready for you! I only wish I could have stayed there for longer!

Beautiful relaxing island.

Beautiful relaxing island. Great little known holiday destination. Everyone very friendly and helpful. As it’s not so well just a bit of general info. Apart From wheelbarrow guys who take your luggage from port to hotel, (cost us 70. Reals one way for two cases) everyone else takes debit/credit cards so you don’t need to take much cash. You can buy a bottle of water in a shop or from street stalls for 3 Reals (about 55p) and pay by card. Very safe no pickpocketing Etc No one speaks English so unless you speak Portuguese - download Google translate . - we only met four other tourists who spoke English. This didn’t cause us any issues as the local people were so friendly and helpful. Restaurants are reasonably priced once you realise that portions are huge! - it’s usual for many meals to be for 2 people One of these will feed 4. You can usually ask for such meals to be served for just one. Also two starters is enough for a full meal for two people. Look out for the “Executive” or PR meals these are still very large portions One other nice thing is if you order a large beer (600ml) bottle just ask for 2 glasses - this is perfectly normal here in practice if you ask for a large beer they will normally as if you want one or two glasses.

Itacaré has a relaxed and bohemian vibe with charming streets lined by vibrant colour houses. Is relatively untouched by massive tourism and evolved by ecological reserves, rainforests, and beautiful landscapes. Is the perfect spot for those who love sports like surfing, climbing, kayaking, paddle boarding and trekking.

Ilheus is a small city.

Ilheus is a small city. The central district is walkable and very enjoyable. There is an area a few blocks from the hotel with food trucks, ice cream shops and music. There is a wonderful area a couple of blocks north of the hotel for children to play. There is a Brazilian Churrascaria a couple blocks west from the hotel that had a great buffet with salads and grilled meats. It is only open until 3pm. It was very convenient to have small restaurants in the hotel building. Try the chocolate factory and Bom Bom factory. The South beach has many bars and great seafood.

So nice to not have cars on the island.

So nice to not have cars on the island. However, there are plenty of petrol quadbikes... kind of a shame that Boipeda hasn't gone the extra step of being non-motorised. It's beautifl however, with great beaches, lots of birds, and the best moqueca I had in Brazil. Way less hectice than Morro. The only downside for me was the overland trip in 4WD from Morro to the final boat to Boipeba (a 5 min boat ride) - it was rough, and kind of fun for 20 mins, then got pretty tedious and we were all sick of the bouncing around. And those 4WDs are shredding the environment enroute. Then we had to do the same to get back to Morro. I would recommend taking a boat from Morro somehow, or from the mainland.

The amazing nature, beautifiul beaches and sunmy days made us enjoy our holiday days to the full. Relaxiing atmosphere and safe place to stay. Taipus de Fora beach is a mandatory natural pool experience (check low tide calendar). The islands speedboat day-tour also a very nice experience. A tourist downtown full of good restaurants, handcraft souvenir stores and cool place to enjoy eventos. It is not an easy-to-access place (plane, car, and speedboat to reach there) but worthy visiting. Expensive car transportation and food at the beaches, be prepared.

Ilhéus has a rich historical background, but the town feels neglected, with many historical buildings falling into disrepair. It’s not particularly touristic—more functional than charming. That said, there are some good bars and restaurants, and the centrally located airport is convenient. The beaches, while decent, don’t compare to the stunning ones in the surrounding region. It’s worth a short stop for its historical significance, but the lack of restoration is disappointing.

Boipeba is just a paradise.

Boipeba is just a paradise. I was very impressed by the organization of the excursions, they have a strict control over how many people are going to the touristic places and I really appreciate that. There are several options for restaurants and they are very careful with food allergies and preferences, such as vegan and vegetarian. The center of Boipeba's village is calm, clean and really cute. Waters are crystal clear and warm. I'd recommend a boat trip around the island, but also to have one day to walk from one beach to the other, especially the path to get to Moreré, which is one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen in my life. It's good either for a romantic scape or to go with the family. I'm not sure if it's a good destination for seniors, as most of the beaches are far away and some hiking skills are needed. We got there from Salvador by personal transfer (ferry to Vera Cruz, then a 2 hour car ride, then another ferry from Valença to Boipeba), it took us around 5 hours to do so.

Forget to get there by car.

Forget to get there by car. We rented a car in Ilheus and from Itacare to Barra Grande we have done 2 and a half hour for 60kms! It is simply insane. We were very worried about car condition and also about our own safety (a car started to follow us). After the trip we have been advised to better go to Camumu and then take a boat to get there or directly via boat from Itacare, Ilheus or wherever. No asphalt, so please be aware of this and possibly rent an expensive quad (200 reais per day). Locals do not want to make asphalt streets because they say that will attract more people but Barra Grande literally lives from tourism. Who really gets them? Craters each inch and full of water. You can really lose your car there! Wanted to see the natural water pools of Taipu de Fora but could not reach them due to water craters on the "road". Decided to save the car and finally left the peninsula.

Take a little time to visit Gamboa on the other side of the island . $10 reais p/person on a boat taxi takes you there .
