The people at Barcelos were great, very friendly and wanted to help. They provided us with names of 4x4 guides, helped with things to see and visit and where to eat. The property is in a great location with walkable restaurants and supermarket. The area was very safe and they have a secure lot to park cars. The city center has a few restaurants which a is longer walk but we decided to drive. The pousada was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the pool and the sauna after our days hiking! Barcelo’s is right near the entrance to Serra Cananstra park and near cheese farms to visit. For breakfast they offerred great local Canastra cheeses, fruits, yogurts, cereal, eggs and these excellent grilled cheese breads, yum!!

Breakfast is very nice - simple but all the sweets / breads you expect from Mina Gerais.
Good coffee - eat and drink as much as you would like - with a very helpful and friendly staff.
Pão de queijo / Bolo / frutas / juice - many options
Very nice pool and the view is spectacular very nice hotel - Old style construction .

Carmo is a very small town of Minas Gerais.
Carmo is a very small town of Minas Gerais. Typical quiet town.
Not many options for restaurants or eating or tourism inside the town area.
GREAT carnaval time . Safe and organized. Very good .
The waterfalls or lakes are a bit far from town and if you are planning to walk. be prepare . A lot of hills .
But if you want a quiet small and off the map town . Carmo is the place.
