I could run out of superlatives to describe how good the Nako Okavango river camp is. What they have created here is hard to believe. A beautiful set of tent cabins set beside the river. (Camping available also). Everything used in the building and grounds are top quality, the carpentry and building are excellent, water pressure, swimming pool, security lights; nothing has been skimped on. The main restaurant/bar area looks out over the river and the cabins are in a wide arc along the banks under flowing trees. Inside the cabins are comfy beds with top quality linen, doonas, blankets and pillows with draping mosquito nets. Flaps on the flywire windows can be opened for the air and views. Very hot water showers, fridge and a deck with chairs to sit out on. I have to mention the greatest assets are Mike the owner and manager Regina. Mike is such a larger than life fellow with many interesting and humorous stories of an amazing life. He’s also a quality chef and made 3 wonderful dinners for us. They are both so friendly and helpful and really made our stay wonderful. Regina can also do clothes washing if needed. They also organised a Mokoro canoe trip for us, which was really worthwhile. And directed us to the Duck cafe near the airport, best coffee in Maun! It’s about 15 minutes outside Maun just off the bitumen road, there is a large sign on the highway. The short dirt road in was hard packed and easily passable in our 2wd corolla.

Such a beautiful place! Secluded with the abundance of wildlife alongside comfort and a great service! We saw leopard not far from the lodge and hippo just in front of our balcony. Also, great meals in the restaurant!

The hotel looks well taken care of and neat and clean. The rooms are well furnished and the bathroom was fine. It has a bar/restaurant were we ate several times and food was always plentiful and good. It's well organized and the staff is the most friendly and helpful at all times. Whenever we had a question or request they would find a solution and help immediately. We got extra service from the shuttle as it was rather far from the shops, it was given to us for free.

The tents were clean and appeared very new as did the bathroom facilities. Quick hot water. #1forest tent was well located and the watering pool near our deck attracted wildlife. The grounds were well maintained and beautiful. The food was very good, especially the apple tart. Boat cruise was a convient walk from our tent. The pool was clean, fun, and refreshing.

This was the start and end point for our okavango delta/salt pans trip. A day to get acclimated to the time zone/jet lag made for a better safari experience as well as a day of rest before the long journey home. There were a lot of available activities in the areas but we did not have time to explore them.

Comfortable cabins with nice location and great potential if you want to be out of Maun but need to make sure if food is available and to pay on arrival to avoid problems with payment as staff not present on site early

We were disappointed, we were under the impression that we could drive around in the area and on the premises, but you have to book for game drives. The water hole is on the side for the tented camp visitors, the people camping does not really have access. The camping is a good stop over for one night, but a longer stay will is not recommended.

Our stay was a bit out of town, so we could rest as well. There are lots of things to do in Maun, and because it was not our first time there, we did not do all the touristy things. We explored the town and its surroundings.

Maun is a great place to stay either on the way into other Botswana national parks or as a destination in its own right. It's a great base for mokoro and boat trips into the delta, as well as game drives towards Moremi. The hotels and lodges in the town area are very good value compared to those inside the national parks, so are a good option for a lower cost stay. The town has good facilities to re-stock on fuel and food for onward destinations.
