They were super accommodating. I had without realizing it booked a room on top floor and my husband cant do the stairs and even though they were very busy the owner made sure that we got a room with double beds on bottom floor( we had booked a king size bed) and said no charge for extra bed. Amazing people.

The Royal George is a classic heritage hotel - large rooms, high ceilings, atmosphere. However, lacks modern chain hotel amenities - no gyms, pools, breakfast, etc. Location is perfect - in the heart of the village and a block from the beaches.

We had plans to visit museums, go to Petroglyphs, visit the Canoe Museum and tour the Trent University. In our three day stay we managed to do three of these things. It rained hard on Saturday, thought we were going to have to stay indoors, until I found online Liftlock Cruises, rain or shine, so we booked that tour. The Canoe Museum was fascinating and we didn't get to see all of it as we were there late in the day it closes at 5pm. The Petroglyphs were spiritual and sacred. As a First Nation family we were allowed to do our tobacco ceremony right there on the petroglyph rock, we loved that, my girls said they could feel the ancient spirits in that place. Next time I will be more prepared to honour the sacredness of this place.

I like the main street of Cobourg..However, at 6pm on a Thursday, I found that several of the restaurants on the main street were closed which was a little disappointing. I ended up going to Metro Grocery store to buy my food...which actually worked out just fine.

It is a beautiful location along the Trent waterway. The shops are pet friendly with water bowls outside for your pet or service animal to enjoy; with some even supplying treats for them. The Information Station staff were very helpful, informative, providing information not only of the town, the whole area around.

A hidden gem!

A hidden gem! A perfect rural town set in bucolic countryside amazingly close to the 401 and Toronto. Delightful setting on the Trent River. Enough amenities (like restaurants) to accommodate tourists but not enough to spoil the rural characters of the town.

Error by bookings.com ( booked me last room, but it did not). Jessica at hotel fixed it. Gave me room w 2 queen beds instead at same price. Supper clean room. Checked in very late (called ahead and no issue). Nice little hotel at a very reasonable price. I’d def recommend it and intend to stay there if ever in area again. Both check in and out very easy and friendly.

Unit 4 was very cold at night and no tv remote. For unit 15, washroom is small, leaking water and no space. Bedsheets and pillow could have been better. Enjoyed fishing. Put bbq. Swimming in a small area, play baseket ball. Fire pit to put bonfire. Quiet place to have a nice meet up.

The lock lift bridge was interesting, the zoo was fun but I think they should charge a 2$ admission instead of being free, to help care for the animals and grounds but I don't no that situation of why it is free

The staff at Foodland went out of their way to help us . We were staying in a room that didn't allow cooking and no access to a oven ! So I asked at the Deli if they could help us by Heating ( cooking ) a Pizza for us which they did ! It saved us from traveling out of our way to find a Pizzeria and Spending more money than we had ! I wish to thank them because they didn't charge me Extra for heating up the Pizza . We might stop in town the next time we are passing through on the way to our camping grounds outside Hastings Ontario .
