"Comox is beautiful place! if you are there, definitely go by the Marina! I promise it is worth it. If you want AMAZING food and a great view while dining, make sure to try out the Black Finn Pub, I promise you will love it! Their Seafood chowder is make fresh in house and is the best one in Comox Valley! Plus their fish and chips is top notch! Also, make sure to stay on the Comox side as Courtenay is a dumpster fire."

I had the pleasure of staying at Heron’s Landing in April 2024. The suite was very comfortable. In addition to the one bedroom, it included a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and living room. The view of the inland passage was very peaceful. I also valued the under-building parking. So much for the accommodations. What I really appreciated about this “family operated property” was the family. Amanda and her mother were wonderful. Amanda was very helpful during my stay, and her mother actually cooks the breakfast. NO plastic disks of scrambled egg or shoe-leather sausage here. It’s the real thing. And if eggs are not your thing, a variety of cold cereals and breads are available. The young man at the front desk was very friendly and efficient, while the fellow who helped me with the key card was pleasant, even though it was somewhat late. Lastly, the location is very convenient, about halfway between Willow Point and downtown Campbell River, right across from the Sea Walk. So, if your visiting Campbell River, I would recommend Heron’s Landing over any of the ‘corporate-owned’ properties.

Campbell River is such a mixed bowl of people, places, tourists, motorcycles, wanderers... it always feel like we belong there, so we visit twice a year and just relax. The waterfront is truly amazing, the restaurants are casual and welcoming, locals are friendly and it just feels good to be there.

Gold River is a small town, but has sufficient facilities for travelers. I highly recommend that any visitor include a drive further down the highway to the end of the inlet where there are float plane tours and boat tours available. The views of the ocean and mountains from shore at the dock is spectacular.

Cumberland is one of the Hidden Gem towns of British Columbia. Lots to do there, considering it's a small town, and worth visiting especially if you enjoy walking, hiking, mountain biking, etc. If you arrive in a vehicle, Cumberland can be a convenient center for exploring the outdoors in every season: alpine or cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, or fat-tire biking in winter; swimming and boating, etc., in summer; and hiking all year round. Cumberland is a vibrant town with pubs and restaurants, excellent parks, some little shops. Nice relaxing place!

The place is a quiet island with limited activities and places to visit. Grocery prices are comparatively higher than Victoria, restaurant prices are comparable to Victoria. Not much variety in terms of restaurants but can be enough. Be mindful of the days some restaurants or shops or other places are open. Not everything is open all week days. We and the kids really loved Rebecca Spit park and beach.

We went to the Courtenay museum of palaeontology. Went on the Fossil Dig. The museum & Fossil dig are a great find & something totally different to spend a few hours during your stay in the area. Great for families with kids of all ages (above toddlers) Also fabulous Japanese food at Sushi Wara!! Great vibe & fresh delicious food. Obviously the locals know this by the amount of takeout business they do too

I don't drive so I found the transit reliable and had excellent routes. The weather was smiling on me that day so I was thrilled at how easy it was to just jump on a BC Ferry to Quadra Island. And affordable for only $5 one way, return is included! The views are so accessible, I took alot of pictures! I really enjoyed the Herons and Eagles! I need to return so I can explore further on and off of Quadra Island.
