I loved the hotel, the staff and the suites. Really felt comfortable. As someone travelling with a large cooler, I surely appreciated having a standard sized refrigerator in my suite. The hotel was modern and clean. Decent assortment of breakfast items. The gym had an appropriate amount of equipment which I used. Towels provided at the gym. I would definitely stay here again. All the staff were lovely, from front desk to housekeeping to shuttle driver.

Check out was 12 noon. That gave me a chance to sleep in and not have to rush around to get out. The breakfast went until 10 AM and was well stocked right to the end (I never got there until 9:30). The pool was large, deep and clean. The hot tub was clean and had jets that worked well The bed was real comfortable and had nice pillows The room was very clean. I REALLY appreciate that! The TV server was easy to understand, there was a guide on the screen to be able to choose which program was on which channel. (Most hotels now have tv but its a crap shoot as to where to find a program, you have to scroll each half hour to see if there is something to watch)

The front office gentleman who I met during check-in was friendly and nice. Even was accommodating to help us switch rooms due to my wife's uncomfortableness with the smell of cigarettes in our first room.

Planning a trip? Get inspired by reviews of cities in Thunder Bay

Scored out of 10, guest rating 6.0

We were travelling by car across Canada.

We were travelling by car across Canada. Thunder Bay sits at the west end of Lake Superior. It is a welcome relief to arrive from either direction. The city has many restaurants and hotels and other amenities There is no other large urban area until you get to Sault Ste Marie at the eastern end of Lake Superior. If you are not accustomed to Canada's North the distances are mind boggling. Many small communities appear to be in their death throes but Thunder Bay appears to be thriving. It boasts a University ad a large Hospital which is a Cancer Centre.

Thunder Bay left a very positive impression on us.

Thunder Bay left a very positive impression on us. The city is surrounded by beautiful nature, with plenty of scenic views and a peaceful atmosphere. We found it to be clean, quiet, and easy to get around. The people we met were friendly, and there were all the services and stores we needed. If you visit Thunder Bay, we highly recommend exploring Ouimet Canyon and visiting one of the local amethyst mines. Both attractions are unique, beautiful, and well worth the trip. Overall, it’s a great place to stop while traveling or to spend a few relaxing days exploring the area.

I just will not use Wyndham properties any more if there is any option at all in the town/city in question. I need to know the company will act honourably and fairly if there is an issue, and my experience has proven otherwise.
