Historical gasthaus with wood interior. The Terrance and garden are beautiful, there is also a football table 🤠 and close by a pretty lake! Finally, the lady running this place is the sweetest host we had during an entire stay -a week- in Switzerland. Vibes are so relaxing and the breakfast is brilliant. Happy we ended up here!

Great Staff (Oliver) who hosted us and prepared our meals. Also the other staff members were super friendly. We had eaten at their restaurant once before during a hike and wanted to try staying here for a short holiday ever since. Our kids liked it, especially the Spielplatz outside with the Trampoline.

We stayed in a room with a shared bathroom (no discomfort at all). The room was large, clean. The bed linen and pillows were very nice and comfortable, I slept well. Sauna was ok. There is a small pool but we did use it. Location is great.

Good location in the center of everything, but your room looked out onto a beautiful lawn & trees. So even though you were in the center of town you felt like you were in the countryside.

The flat is beautifully furnished and everything you might need is provided! You can start hiking right at the doorstep, we didn't manage all hikes (even though we hiked every day as we had beautiful weather) and plan to be back :-). The balcony is a lovely bonus and we ate all our meals there with a beautiful view of the mountains. A swimming pool, table tennis and football table kept us even in the evening entertained as well as the board and cad games provided by the host.

The Chasserugg mountain railway was a short walk from the Santis Lodge Hotel. It is a beautiful scenic ride up to a ski station and restaurant. A cable car travels from there to the highest point of the mountain where another restaurant with a log fire awaits. Santis mountain is half an hour's drive away. The hotel Schonau is a short walk up the hill serving delicious Swiss food such as rosti and fondu as well as pizza and other items. The locality has beautiful mountain scenery.

Small and quiet town offering relaxing stay, placed conveniently close to Walensee and Obersee lakes, one of the cheese factories (Appenzeller Schaukäserei), steel bobsled roller coaster (Kronberg Bobbahn). Plenty of mountain walks offering brilliant communing with nature. Overall a good base for enjoying mountaineering in Switzerland.

Wildhaus, by its location and views, is quaint, clean and stunning. Lots of hiking can be done straight from the hotel, or you can take the ski / hiking lifts up to higher ground and do mountain top excursions, with breathtaking views of the mountains. Definitely worth a visit of you are looking for peace, hiking and beauty.
There are various hotels in the area, Hotel Sonne has a magnificent menu of Swiss specialties and very acceptable pricing. Wildhaus is small and does not have much in the way of shops, and is linked by various efficient bus routes to get to other towns if shopping is important.

The village is surrounded by gorgeous hills with lots of hiking trails, all very well maintained. From the village you reach the tips of the mountains by a network of cable cars. An ideal place for family vacations.
