The property is new, in great conditions, super clean, the room was exactly what we needed, we didn’t work remote but had to work for a couple of hours and it was comfy cause there’s a desk and great internet Great location, safe and 10 mins walk to downtown, there are a couple of convenience stores nearby in case you need last minute shopping German received us and was always attentive, with great attitude and made very good recommendations for restaurants You don’t feel like staying at a hotel but in a friend’s place Great value for money, we’re very much looking forward to going back and stay there

We had a fantastic time at Monasterio del Viento! It exceeded our expectations, especially since this was our first time visiting Providencia, and we weren’t sure how the island had recovered from the 2020 hurricane. The hotel is beautifully decorated with great attention to detail, creating a tranquil and luxurious retreat. Alvaro, Melie, and the two ladies who cooked were all amazing—so welcoming and attentive. We still think about the delicious ceviche we had for lunch! We deeply appreciate all the effort put into making Monasterio del Viento such a luxurious and well-run option on Providencia—it truly shows. Herbert was incredibly easy to communicate with and arranged everything we needed seamlessly. The level of service was truly five-star, and we’ve already told many friends that if they ever visit Providencia, Monasterio del Viento is the only place to consider!

Our large room was nice and clean, and we had access to a kitchen (that had free coffee and filtered water) with a small balcony. We were pleasantly surprised that the property also had a small bar, where we had an opportunity to chat with locals and the owners and their family. The location was perfect, right on the water and a short walk across a bridge to the main town on Providencia. Meanwhile, the property itself was right by the water and very quiet and relaxing, being on the car-free island of Santa Catalina. We took advantage of free kayaks provided by the property to paddle around Santa Catalina and enjoy the beautiful views. It was also a quick hike to a very nice beach. What truly made our stay special was the kindness and attentiveness of our hosts, especially Xavier. We greatly enjoyed our conversations with you and hope to return one day. Thanks so much for enriching our time on Providencia! This was a truly authentic island experience.

Location is perfect. Close to town, 10 minutes in car. Hotel has direct access to the beach which is the best on the island. We visited the main beach closer to the marina and main town however this is crowded and busy with the requirement to pay beds/shade from sun. Beds and shelter is included with the hotel. Slightly up the beach from the hotel water taxis can be located to take you across to the small island and shipwreck £5 per person. Usually a private boat across sometimes a mixed boat oj return and you can stay on the small island as long as you like. There's a bar on it so it's possible to buy drinks whilst there and the seat is beautiful. Shoes recommended as the rocks are harsh on the toes. Restaurant was second to none. We sampled restaurants around the island but always found ourselves enjoying the hotel food far more and the value for the quality provided is exceptional. Prices for food and alcohol are more than reasonable. Staff across the entire hotel are friendly, accommodating, and always helpful. They always greet you with a smile and go above and beyond, often remembering names and preferences. They engage in conversation and will even help with improving your spanish as we often required. They have on-site rental staff that enable you to hire buggies and paddle boards, snorkels, etc. All very reasonable. A buggy for the day was £50 and we explored the entire island. Again, staff were very helpful and allowed us to extend our hire time so that we were able to catch a sunset. The rooms have a modern esthetic, clean, and perfect for couples and families with their options. We went as a couple with a close friend and had a junior suite which allowed for us as a couple to have our own space/room whilst our friend had their own secure room also but all within the same secured space so they felt safe also. It's been very well thought through and incredibly comfortable. We all slept beautifully!

Staff attitudes in general in San Andres are less attentive and accomodating than in most resort areas, there seems to be more of a sense of resentment towards visitors and a sense of entitlement than in other locations. Coffee/ beverage service was slow and forgetful, the snack bar often opened late, and the food was cold, both at the snack bar and at breakfast (cold eggs, french fries, hamburgers). For lunch the chicken was routinely horribly overcooked, cold, and dry. Dinner was definitely the best meal each day, quality-wise.

The room has excellent views of the beach and you can see the sunrise, has a little balcony where you can sit and enjoy the views. The beach was across the street (which is pedestrian only) and have plenty of options to eat or drink, nevertheless the food and drinks (and snacks) at the hotel restaurant were good enough so we had very few cravings to eat out.

Sadly San Andres is run down, dirty and expensive. Save your travel money for Medellin or Bogota when traveling in Colombia. They try and compete w Europe & Miami when it comes to prices for Hotels, Rental Cars (buggies) and restaurants, but they are not even close in quality. I love Colombia, just not the beach towns / islands

The Seaflower Biosphere Reserve protects the Island's marine environment, so it's a special place to snorkel and scuba dive. We were impressed by the health of the coral we saw and by the variety of marine life in the waters that surround the island. It's good news that Providencia has mostly recovered from the devastating direct hit it took from Hurricane Iota in 2020. Homes are rebuilt and new infrastructure can be seen all around the island. Providencia has precious southern beaches to soak in the island's ambiance, eat freshly-caught seafood or lay back and chill out with a coconut or pineapple-inspired cocktail in hand while swinging gently back and forth to the sound of the waves from your beach hammock.

Santa Catalina is the smaller island north of Providence.

Santa Catalina is the smaller island north of Providence. It's quieter, walking-only, and connected to the other island via a bridge. In a way, this is the prettier island, and it's got the historic fort plus pirate hideouts to the north (accessable via swimming or boat). It's got a tiny, quiet beach which is absolutely gorgeous. Both islands combined are tiny and easy to get around, so I ate on Providencia mostly, though there are cafes on Santa Catalina and I bought drinks and snacks at the shops on Santa Catalina. I liked staying on Santa Catalina and would stay there next time.

Nature-wise, it's amazing! The 7-color sea is true.

Nature-wise, it's amazing! The 7-color sea is true. We swam with sharks, rays, and beautiful fish at the aquarium. Beautiful beaches (although some of them are full of seaweed), alcohol is cheap, and food is nice. I would change the attitude of some people. They want to charge you for everything; they are not polite; they want to take advantage of the tourists. We went to a bar that was empty, and they told us we needed to book. It was empty!! On a tour to Johnny Cay, they took us to see a ship that sank like 40 years ago, and they wanted to charge extra for that. Seriously?

San Andrés is a beautiful and vibrant island with incredibly friendly people and a rich culture. The beaches are stunning, with plenty of options for snorkeling, diving, freediving, waterskiing, or even parasailing. Getting around is easy—buses can take you almost anywhere, but we mostly used motorcycle taxis for convenience. We spent New Year’s there, which was magical with everyone on the beach dressed in white! Finding a restaurant on New Year’s Eve was a challenge we didn’t anticipate, but in the end we enjoyed a tasty burger from a street stand. Overall, the island offers a mix of relaxation and adventure, with vibrant local life, delicious food options, and plenty of water activities. It’s perfect for both exploring and simply enjoying the beach, and we would love to return someday.

The experience is unique, their people and culture are just amazing. We stayed for 7 days and were able to do many different activities, from a "Mulita" - like a golf car- rental to go around the island, to scuba diving, boat tour, and beach exploration. This destination has everything you need if you enjoy exploring and meet great people. Don't expect huge resorts or hotels, instead you'll find cozy cabins or rooms, commerce-free / noise-free beaches, and very kind people. Recommended for everyone who truly wants to get away from the daily rush.
