"It looks like a beautiful resort. However, I'd suggest doing the day pass if you're close by. We had no hot water and there were mosquitoes EVERYWHERE in our lodge. Also, we didn't have wifi in our lodge, which they did end up giving us a booster. The beach was beautiful and tranquil. I truly enjoyed the seclusion and peaceful atmosphere. The food was okay. They had some small local spots outside of the resort, but it was definitely easier to eat on the resort."

I got very sick and missed 2 flights , the staff really helped accommodate me for a longer stay Yeison was great , he would come and check on me to make sure I was getting better. He really went above and beyond and treated me not like a customer but a friend or family. When I return I will only stay here

Puerto Plata is a beautiful place overall, and I actually had a really good time—just not at the place I stayed. What I liked: The people were great—friendly, welcoming, and full of good energy I had a lot of fun exploring outside, enjoying the city, beaches, and local spots The culture, music, and vibe make it a place you can truly enjoy What I didn’t like: My accommodation was terrible, which affected part of the experience Some places can be hit or miss, so where you stay really matters Overall: Even though my stay at the property was bad, Puerto Plata itself was a great experience. The people and the environment made up for it. I would definitely come back—but next time, I’ll choose a better place to stay. Tip: Do your research on accommodations. The location is amazing, but your stay can make or break the experience

Sosúa feels chaotic, run down and seedy. It is a shame, because it could be a lovely place. It has an interesting history, and beautiful beaches. Alicia beach is excellent - clean and well run, and with a very good restaurant (The Waterfront) beside it.

It is difficult to walk along the main road, especially with kids. We tried our stroller and that was almost impossible and often dangeroud having to go in and out of the streets because the bumps and breaks in the sidewalk were impossible to navigate with a stroller at times. The beaches are great. Mojito Bar, Vagamundo and Fresh Fresh our our favorite eating places.

They need to be more aware of safety on the beach. No control of jet skis and boats traveling too fast in and out of swimming areas. Also the road in front of the beach has cars traveling much too fast and no one monitoring that.

Totally set up for Cruise people.

Totally set up for Cruise people. Town is alive at 2 block area during the day, then crickets at night. High season and restaurants were emptly. Any "excursions" are made up. Nothing worth buying, no local artisans. Sosua beach has much more to offer, but it is a $35 cab ride away. I was so bored, I went twice. Everyone is trying to Gringo Price you. Will not return, and this was my 4th time visiting DR. I stayed at Playa Dorado....boring, little to do...mediocre restaurants and you need a car to do anything.

i liked the location the best because i was able to mix with...

i liked the location the best because i was able to mix with the local people there. i learned alot about the Dominican culture and meet some good people. the night life was great the clubs and the casino were full of people on the week end. and i have to say the ladies of Sosua are gorgeous and friendly. the local message shop only charge $20 America dollars for one hour you can get that in the us. and they do an assume job. the beach water was a beautiful blue color and they have a variety of good restaurants.

Having visited both Ensenada and Punta Rucia beaches...

Having visited both Ensenada and Punta Rucia beaches regularily over the last 25 Years Punta Rucia is by far the best ... Ensenada has gone down in all aspects. We loved our experiance at Punta Rucia Lodge resort, the service, prices, staff's attention and overall service in all departments was excellent, the beach front well kept, clean and serviced by security ( available if needed) wonderful place to visit!!

Food was not good.

Food was not good. Service at the Buffet could have been much better. Rooms need attention. Lights need to be brighter, fans need controls, our door lock needed repair to lock. No water pressure in sink. The resort was attractive & kept clean.

Sosua offers everything for a nice short holiday. a very beautiful beach is Playa Alicia. You have to pay for the sunbeds/ umbrellas but it is worth it. German butchers have great sausages and meat and also the "La Cantina" restaurant in La Mulata is great if you search for German food. The Playero supermarket offers a great variety of products.
