The receptionist is very nice. On my first night, December 2, I was very thirsty but was concerned about drinking water directly from the bathroom tap. The receptionist kindly helped me get water from the kitchen in the reception area instead of forcing me to buy a water bottle. I truly appreciate that.
I also appreciate how the cleaner helped with the trash and made everything tidy without rearranging my belongings.
When I checked out early on Tuesday, December 3, the receptionist noticed that I wouldn’t be able to have breakfast and gave me a chocolate candy. I really appreciate that thoughtful gesture.

Wonderful guesthouse located in a small village right on the lake. Very easy to get to. Plenty of attractions in the area.
The owner is a great lady. She is friendly, helped us with the suggestions on the local sightseeing, speaks several languages.
The breakfast is great. There is an open bar at the house, you can take if you need anything and pay later. You can play pool (billiards) and other games.
The house is very safe, clean and comfortable.

It was my second time staying in this hotel. I liked it previously, therefore I booked it for my second visit. My main requirements were breakfast, free parking and free WiFi in that particular order. And hotel fulfilled my expectations.

The decor is absolutely beautiful. The artwork is inspirational and as you walk in the door, you are surrounded by aromatic elements. You can tell that a great deal of care was taken to when creating this hotel.

In addition to the well-known sights, I would also recommend the following: 1) Supilinn – a neighborhood of new and restored wooden houses that will appeal to architects and designers; 2) rent an e-bike (Smart Bike Tartu app) to explore more distant areas; 3) go for a swim at the beach near the city center; 4) take a photo at the Upside Down House - that is funny; 5) among the cafés in the center, we liked Gustav – the warm salad was delicious!

The hostess was great.
The hostess was great. They provided additional information regarding a tour of the castle and the area. The breakfast menu was provided the evening before and it was extensive. I checked off just about everything on offer and then worried it would be too much, but the portions were adjusted accordingly, and thus I was delighted to have been able to taste all of what was offered. As for the area...restful.

This can be dubbed the garden town of Estonia (which in itself could be named the garden country of Europe). Every detached house has an immaculate garden with lots of flowers in the summer and the town government does not save pennies on making streets floral and beautiful. There are small and larger forests in the neighbourhood and there are two small beaches bordering natural lakes in the town centre. For those looking for vibrant nightlife, this is not the place to be. From Elva you can take the train or bus to Tartu from the 19th century wooden train station. In the other direction, the train goes to Valga from where you can travel onwards into Latvia. Overall, i would think that 3 days is about right to explore Elva (and its excellent small scale restaurants) and the surroundings.

Tartu is a beautiful, peaceful, and welcoming city with a charming old town, lovely riverside walks, and a relaxed atmosphere. We really enjoyed exploring the city and would love to visit again. The AHHAA Science Centre was one of the highlights of our trip. It offers fascinating interactive exhibits for both children and adults, making learning fun and engaging. We spent several hours there and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I enjoyed Aparaaditehas and walking the small streets of Karlova. In Aparaaditehas I visited two bookstores (Fahrenheit 451 is a hidden gem with entrance from Aparaat restaurant), Biit Me record store, Kett gallery. Karud ja Pojad is a fascinating arts and vintage store, a must-visit. I had good coffee and pastries at Cruffin and pizza opposite to Cruffin.
