I loved the place! The owner was really nice and helpful. The rooms were spacious and beautiful! I felt I have been transfered to somewhere magical! And the bed was comfy! Breakfast was really warm porridge and sandwiches. Coffee or tea you could pick yourself. Ps:I loved the tea selection🥰

Location was beautiful, view to the mountain from our window. Hiking trails just view steps away from the hotel. Stuff was really helpful, special thanks to young lady at reception:) . Also recommend dining in there, kitchen stuff met our special requests with an ease and it was delicious. Special bonus was private sauna on site, 10e per hour was totally worth it.

The cottage was wonderful, with wide windows opened on a deck facing the garden. My sons loved the nice TV facilities, we adults loved the peaceful environment and comfortable rooms. We liked the continental breakfast in a cozy hall, on huge wooden tables. Unfortunately, our travel plan allowed us to stay one night only.

Oulu is a gorgeous and modern city with lots of history,...

Oulu is a gorgeous and modern city with lots of history, good Universities, and lovely nature and landscapes. The public transport (buses and trains) is quite cost effective. The only problem is the weekends where is more scarce. There are lots of museums and cultural events.

It’s a lovely seaside resort.

It’s a lovely seaside resort. Nice walks and VERY good activities for kids. However the restaurants in Kalajoki Port are very limited and after 3 days you will have tried them all. They are “OK” but to be honest our best Finnish meal was at Helsinki airport. I think there’s a real opportunity for a restaurant serving “local” food. The local supermarket does hot food that’s very good value if you are on a budget.

Lovely place for skiing and snowboarding as well as other activities such as snow mobiles, husky farms, lake dips and saunas. Expensive but lovely. Ruka coaster was a great addition for this years trip but te queue was VERY long and slow.

We booked a guide that we recommend. She took us on an interesting tour about war history in the area, especially the Salpa line. The relationship to Russia and Germany are complicated and interesting. She also showed us a pretty rapid and provided a nice picknick with Finnish snacks. A small town where you can reach everything on foot.Winter is not the best time for visitors.Museums are closed and streets are empty.The old part with lovely wooden houses is worth seeing at any time of the year.Local people are very friendly.

Great place for winter activities and relaxing in a scenic fell & forest setting. Accommodation available from a hilltop hotel to housing options to varied taste & budget, even with great views and next to slopes or skiing/trekking tracks. Some nice options for eating out as well but not a place for party sharks. Local grocery stores small with limited options, more selection 30-45 min drive away. Car is a necessity when not staying in a hotel. If skiing is not enough try e-fatbike or a husky safari.

We stayed there 4 nights.

We stayed there 4 nights. It was a good location for days trips. The room was so quiet. We had number 7 on the end,so we enjoyed large windows looking out to beautiful flower fields and a patio. Breakfast was very good. Many choices. The bird educational room was beyond amazing. I would recommend this place for an off the beaten path bit of paradise.

A great place for skiers of all levels.

A great place for skiers of all levels. Ski hire and ski school were easy to book - Ruka Valley side is more convenient for this. Ruka Village side has more shops and restaurants. For those that don’t want to ski there’s also plenty of other activities in the surrounding areas including an afternoon visit to see Father Christmas.

It's been a long time since my previous visit.

It's been a long time since my previous visit. Excellent pizza at 'Kotipizza' franchise! And a lovely lunch at Ravintola Talonpöytä. But all the shops and 'outlets' were overpriced and the shops overall were a big dissappointment. Better to concentrate on food and nature!
