We really enjoyed our evening meal in the courtyard, the food and service were excellent. The breakfast room is lovely, the large palms and historic space was lovely. The owners were really welcoming and spoke perfect English. My son enjoyed the football pitch, trampoline and we all enjoyed the pool. The bed was very comfortable and the room was really nicely done. Way exceeded expectations! Thanks so much.

Very nice old stone castle with a lot of original things inside. We sleept in Helene's appartment and we realy felt like old times roialty. I recomand it for people who apreciate the history and the value of the castle.

Great stopover location. Great staff and good price.

Great stopover location. Great staff and good price. This is a standard budget hotel and will not disappoint. If travelling on a Sunday or Monday you’ll find the big bonus is that good is available in the evenings. A bit of a rarity in France.

Service was surly when we arrived.

Service was surly when we arrived. Room was down the street and we were given a key and pointed in its direction. Food in restaurant was pretty horrible. Limited choice, fatty, damp chips and damp salad. My wife ordered jambon with a shallot sauce and got a pile of fatty bacon with what appeared to be red Leicester melted over it. I ordered the local special of ham with a cheese fondue sauce, got a few slices of processed ham and a bit of dry smoked ham with what appeared to be reheated cheesy bechamel, possibly from a cash and carry bucket. No air con in room and not even an electric fan given that temperature was extremely high. Tatty bathroom, couple of cheap sachets of shampoo, though surprisingly good and modern shower. Shower of dust and insects fell from 70s light fitting which probably when it was last cleaned. So, no not great.

Lovely small rural town centred on the Abbaye.

Lovely small rural town centred on the Abbaye. Town has recently attracted a small Carrefour supermarket which has helped to revitalise the town as a local shopping area. The town centre has all the "local" shops and appears to be thriving again. Perfect position to explore the local countryside. Peaceful and calm with easy access to the larger towns and the major road network. Hotel was on the edge of the town, within 300 metres of the main Square and the Abbaye, peaceful and calm.

The overall castle atmosphere was great, clean and nice...

The overall castle atmosphere was great, clean and nice rooms, good shower, nice big beds, all what you need. Sadly no restaurant on-site. [Not a report for the Castle - nothing they can help about it] For lunch/dinner you need to travel to nearest town (i.e. Aubusson) where most restaurants are closed on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, etc.. Just pick the day and the restaurant for your visit :-)

Hotel was fine for a budget price.

Hotel was fine for a budget price. The staff was very nice and accommodating, and the restaurant was very good. Gueret is a very quiet town, not much going on. We couldn't find a grocery store open past 7.

Truly spectacular building and the host could not have been...

Truly spectacular building and the host could not have been more helpful . We stayed on the fourth floor and I was pleased there was a lift , albeit a tiny one , as the walk up the spiral staircase was a long way . The grounds were huge and you can wander at will ,even take the rowboat out on the lake if you want ! Continental breakfast was delicious and plentiful ! A really nice ,one off , place to stay !
