We received a warm welcome from the owners. The room was comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed a lot the shared kitchen and the available living room / dining room area. Everything was wery clean and tidy. The location of the accomodation is ideal, very close to the center of Volvic and to the source.

The breakfast was served in the room via a thermal bag. The omelet was fantastic very tasty as was the selection served with it including Jams, yogurt and pastry. Coffee is via a machine provided in the room.

It was only after I stayed in Clermont-Ferrand that I...

It was only after I stayed in Clermont-Ferrand that I realised why people had kept asking me why I was staying 2 nights there! It's more a small city than a large town with modern concrete buildings built onto ancient ones - town planning not their strong point. I decided to stay there to break a long journey to elsewhere and to see the volcanoes at Le Puy du Parion. The normal bus to there wasn't running until July so took another with a longer, although pleasant, hike. If you've seen Etna or Stromboli then this grassed-over volcano isn't memorable. The Jardin-Lecoq gardens are pleasant enough. The black cathedral (designed by the same as the Paris Notre-Dame) was closed. Perhaps not a destination.

Issoire is an ideal overnight stop when travelling from the...

Issoire is an ideal overnight stop when travelling from the UK to Spain and vice versa. The A75 from Clermont Ferrand to Beziers is the best road I ever travel on -- relatively quiet, especially at night, lovely scenery and a direct route to the Med. Also, the only toll is on the magnificent Millau Bridge, but that is avoidable by going through the town. Central Issoire, where there is a good choice of accommodation, is only a half mile from Junction 13.

We had been there before but only for a single night.

We had been there before but only for a single night. We love the town, the hotel, the atmosphere. We ate breakfast in the hotel which was incredible and ate out for other meals (not available in out hotel). Bit of a nuisance to search for other places to eat - the month was September and quite a few places were closed. The Cafe de Paris was a reliable stop gap.

Some really good restaurants but you need to book in advance as they all seemed to be busy in the evenings. Parking is quite good in the evenings but takes a bit of time finding a space during the day.

Although not used during our stay there is a swimming pool on site. Also, good walking and a variety of sites above the town to offer that sort of holiday. For an outdoor holiday in all guises, it wd be worth a thorough exploration of the area. For our touring trip we needed a night only and the hotel where we stayed offered everything we needed.... and private parking!

Sorry to say that it took us 30 to 40 mins to check in as the computer was not working I had to press the button for help twice don't want this at check in it was a hot day ant the air conditioning did not work part was broken off any time we go away we always look for b&b hotel not sure anymore

Great location for exploring the area and for walking (easy, relaxing or more strenuous). Plenty to do and see, including historical towns and villages, interesting walks, stunning scenery, nature reserves and sports. Plenty of nice cafes and restaurants in the area. The lake is very pretty and you can walk or cycle all the way around it.

It is a city under-rated by many people, including the French, it seems. The old mediaeval centre of Clermont is atmospheric, whilst Montferrand (the other part of the unified city) feels more like an old country town emerging on a hill in the suburbs. We were there in winter but it was enjoyable even under grey, intermittently-wet weather and we could still walk up to the top of the icy Puy de Dome. It is not replete with tourist attractions but is a nice place for a few nights. It was pretty quiet and a lot of restaurants were closed on Sunday and Monday, but that might be different at other times of the year.

If you are looking for a special experience, I recommend staying her. The building and grounds are an an actual castle built in the Italianate style (think Romeo & Juliet). The host and hostess were most accommodating. The grounds are extensive and include a very nice campground where the spaces are privately spaced with bushes & trees in between. There are laundry facilities. Some spaces have amazing views. The swimming pool is very large, with a play tower and two water slides. Our room was more than adequate, quite clean, with a balcony and a wardrobe.

We were looking for a nice place to stay during our trip...

We were looking for a nice place to stay during our trip from the south of France to The Netherlands. The hotel is clean and efficient, though overall somewhat dated. The staff was kind and helped us out. The nearby village provides with enough shops and restaurants as we had one afternoon and evening to cover. It looked like there were many outdoor activities going on (hiking, toboganning, etc.). Being there for one night, we did not participate so I cannot comment on those.
