FAQs about hotels in Jersey

Beaches Worthy of the Mediterranean

In the English Channel, just off the Normandy coast, Jersey has wonderful beaches that wouldn’t look out of place in the Mediterranean. The largest Channel Island, it is a UK dependency, but has a distinctly Gallic feel and a dialect closer to French than English.

Home to the largest concentration of Jersey hotels, St Helier - the capital - is centred on a harbour protected by 16th-century Elizabeth Castle, an offshore fort beautifully lit at night. Gorey also has fantastic Mont Orgueil castle, which dominates the multi-coloured façades and fishing boats below.

Trinity in the north has one of the Jersey hotels on the beach and a wildlife park. Speaking of animals, in fields nearby and all over the island are fine examples of the brown Jersey cow that originated here.

Grève de Lecq has a beautiful curved beach, while the longest beach runs along the west coast from the St Ouen to St Brelade regions. In between is St Peter, site of Jersey Airport, while the war tunnels in neighbouring St Lawrence are now a museum and one of the most popular Jersey attractions.

Whichever choice you make from the range of apartments, guest houses and hotels in Jersey on Booking.com, it’s comforting to know that you are staying on a Fairtrade Island.

Well situated in the city, ideal for getting around. The parking was good with plenty of spaces. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were warm, as it was getting a little chilly outside during our stay (late September). Didn't use the spa so can't comment. Room was clean and was checked up on to ensure up to standard. We ate in the restaurant most days and had breakfast, good food and a nice selection.

Plenty to do and see.

Plenty to do and see. Public transport is very reliable and relatively cheap (either get the Liberty Bus app or buy a 1/2/3/ day bus pass) so all of Jersey's attractions are easily accessible. Recommend a visit to La Mare vineyard (stay for lunch) and a walk along the coast from St Helier to St Aubin is worth the time. We ate at El Gato Gordo and The Rigatoni just across the road from our hotel and both worth a visit, especially El Gato Gordo

St Brelades is a stunning beach. The sand is soft and white and the sea is beautiful. We went for lots of swims. It has great facilities including sun loungers and windbreaks that you can rent, beautiful bars and restaurants 2 minutes away and a place where you can book water sports . There are lots of lovely walks and beautiful gardens to sit in. We will definitely return and stay for longer.

St Clements was quiet and peaceful, with St Helier on your doorstep if you want a more lively holiday. Generally loads of places to eat, an abundance of toilets, and beautiful beaches. Parking was plentiful by the beaches however be aware you pay via an app which is a bit of a pain, you need to have roaming and download a carparking app on your phone. The roads were not that busy, and in all directions your never more than 5 miles from a beach. Our favarite place to visit was Jersey Zoo's butterfly house, it was amazing! and Jersey Lavender.

St Saviour is quite a busy part of st Helier with a few one way systems which were confusing for me as I have not driven there before. La Roquc was a lovely little bay with a harbour wall. we spent all afternoon watching the tide come in very relaxing. Great for Painters. Jersey zoo I thought was a little dissappointing what was there was well kept but not a lot to see really. I enjoyed the gorillas and the orangutangs. We ate at the hotel every night was it was difficult to walk to other places from our hotel, with an elderly mother. I didnt want to get the car out again, as there did not appear to be places to park locally. Pretty Island though and easy to drive out of town. The War tunnels are worth a visit.

Gorey is a great spot to stay in Jersey, especially if you don't want to hire a car, as you're on three very good bus routes, and have most things you could want within walking distance. Harbour setting, choice of very good restaurants (Moorings and Suma), bars and tea shops. Great swimming spot at the back of the harbour - a favourite with locals, especially at lower tides. Lovely walks along the promenade and the sweep of Grouville Bay. Explore the 12th century castle at Mont Orgeuil. Easy walk into Gorey Village.
