Proximity to walk to Warwick Castle was great. Quiet & comfortable. Nice fluffy large towels and comfy beds/bedding. Modern bathroom. Very friendly staff and excellent breakfast included. The room had everything we needed. Wish we had arrived a little earlier to enjoy a drink down in the bar.

This is an exceptional hotel in a great location. Old historic building with contemporary extension to rear, focused around a nice courtyard garden. Our room was lovely with quirky, individual decor and very comfy beds. The breakfast was great with a full range and locally sourced. Great location within the town centre but with parking if arriving by car.

I am not very original in my reviews so I will go with the classics: very comfortable beds (also full size, which is quite rare in the UK), everything is very clean, the toiletries from L'Occitane are always a nice touch. The food at the restaurant is also very tasty, especially the breakfast.

The Merrie Lion is a delightful pub and inn with exceptional service. Everyone was warm, kind, and friendly and so attentive to our needs. Every meal we had was delicious--especially the breakfasts each morning. The room was well appointed with modern yet cozy decor. The room was immaculately clean and the bed was very comfortable. If you are looking for a charming village from where you can take long walks through the countryside, Fenny Compton is the place to stay.

The property is very pretty. It is an active restaurant, so be prepared for the that. The rooms are only a convenience, not their primary service. That being said, the rooms are very nicely appointed. We did have dinner and breakfast on site and both were excellent.

Not my first visit to this Hotel. The room was amazing with a huge comfy bed, huge TV, plenty of room. good wardrobe space and extras, like how they hid the iron and board behind a huge mirror door. The room was warm on a very cold night. the bathroom was large too. I didn't have the time to sample the menu on this occasion, bu the dog enjoyed the pleasant outside area to exercise in.

I didn't get the names of the lads on reception and at the bar during the night - but all of them were absolutely superb. Informative and also great banter. Staff tending to everything in the morning were also absolutely lovely. Never ever had an issue with any of the staff here. First time I've stayed for breakfast though - got my money's worth. Tasty food, decent variety.

Beautiful property, felt more like home than a hotel. The towels were the best I have used in 40 years of traveling! The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Beds were comfortable and enjoyed a peaceful sleep. Perfect spot for seeing a show at RSC. And the grounds were beautiful. I can’t wait to stay there again!

Had to say this.....utterly shocked to see a plastic sequined headband IN GIFT SHOP for 12.50!!!!! You can buy 5 for 3 quid as party favours. I can only describe your gift shop as exploitative! Thought about stocking up at B&M charging 200% profit and getting more business? When people feel exploited it infects their opinion of the venue, and American visitor was very upset as she couldn't afford gifts for her children. You may think I'm moaning, I'm offering better marketing and customer satisfaction GO FOR IT YOU HAVE A GREAT PLACE THAT JUST NEEDS A LITTLE IMPROVEMENT. Our kids loved it.

I cannot comment on Leamington Spa itself as I stayed at the hotel for a specific family event and that took all our time so no opportunity to explore Leamington Spa - but the very little I saw of it was lovely. We ate at Rudy's which was great, as was the Saxon Mill by the river.

Kenilworth is a hidden gem. We were right next to a lovely park with church, abbey ruins, a duck (swan, goose etc) pond and newly opened lido. In the heat the centre square had a real continual holiday vibe lots of outdoor dining/coffee opportunities.

Ok for a stopover. Good to see the historic Rugby School buildings. Had no time for the Art Gallery and Museum but it looks interesting. The School puts on Festival in the Close in June so perhaps worth timing a visit with this event. Nothing special about the shops but I may have missed the more interesting ones.

Alcester is a fascinating town with many ancient buildings and interesting shops. There seemed to be a lot going on for such a small place - concert at the church and another event in a local hall plus private events (wedding reception?) at another venue. All within 50m of each other on the night I visited.

Most of the staff seemed friendly, but don't expect decent food if the manager is day off, when the cats away the mice will play, which is unfortunately very evident, some lazy individuals dragging down the good ones who really take pride and try!

I was in Shipston for three nights.

I was in Shipston for three nights. Many Cotswold towns are now very crowded, with coach parties and parking has become very difficult. I liked Shipston because the pubs were full of locals, there was an interesting array of shops including a dress agency with high class second hand clothes (anyone for a genuine Chanel jacket?) and a lot of pleasant buildings from Georgian times onwards, maybe some were even earlier. It's a low-key town, ideal for pottering. Parking was easy.

Shops, pubs and environ are excellent.

Shops, pubs and environ are excellent. There is a historic shop showing you where to go. Canal walks, Hatters garden, lovely small shops covered all needs. Excellent Curry restaurant just opened. Well cooked not too salty for aged us :). Buzzing, near Warwick Castle, Nuneaton, Coventry. Fast train services only 1 1/2 hour from London. An excellent feature is The Original Factory Shop - best we have ever seen - very large - on the high street. A hidden jewel - Of course we stayed at the Red Lion which as a converted coaching hotel came up to all expectations and facilities.
