"Folegandros is an up-and-coming island destination that will no doubt soon be the next Santorini or Mykonos. The Chora is just big enough to provide all the dining options you could want, with well kept storefronts to chose from, but not the crowds one must endure on Santorini or Mykonos. I would recommend a car if you are keen to see the full island, but there is a fairly robust network of buses that will take you close to most places you may want to explore. Most beaches are not direct access, but the short hikes are well worth it to experience Folegandros’ stunning beaches, such as Paralia Agios Nikolaos."

"Yes it is the beach at this very small port, but is simply lovely, trees for shade, a pebble beach but after a half meter in the water, the rest is sand. Lovely small cove with 3 on beach restaurants. Beach is suitable for your children, off the beach some really good restaurants and accommodation. Great place to be including as a base to explore the rest of this lovely island and be within minutes to the ferrry for onwards journey."

Location right above the port is super convenient for getting out on the water, which is the primary way to visit the best beaches and coves in Folegandros because many are not accessible by car. Only a few minutes by car or bus from the main town Chora. We will hopefully be returning another summer soon!

Due to the landscape you get sea view on both sides of the island (though not from inside the room but there is a nice terrace outside). Breakfast is not included in the room price but the lovely host also runs the bistro/ cafe next to the rooms, where she serves really good breakfast and small meals.

We made last minute reservation in low season, but have been warm welcomed by girls owners even before check in time. Room itself was also nice with all necessary facilities and even small kitchen.

We stayed for four nights in early May. First of all, Folegandros is an amazing little island. It was the beginning of the season so some places were not open yet, but neither were there tons of tourists so it was peaceful and wonderful. There are a few little markets to pick up groceries, there were several open restaurants. Meltemi was a really great stay. A quintessential complex of white washed buildings with blue doors connected by a maze of stairs. Our room had double doors that opened to a view of the hills, so we opened them every morning and lay in bed looking out at the view, and we sat on the balcony late into the evening. The room was clean and spacious, had a fridge, the beds were comfy. The location was perfect, right in town and a short walk to the switchback trail up to the high point and Church of Paragia. The views from there and from a viewpoint in town are spectacular. For hikers, lots of trails, including a spectacular coastal trail from Angali to Agios Nikolaos beach where we went swimming. Easy to rent a car for the 12 km length of the island but there are buses as well making it unnecessary to need a car for some. Can’t say enough about the island and Meltemi was a great place to stay. Note, if you have a car you park in the parking lot on the outside of town and walk in (not far) to the hotel. A note about the bathroom, we had no issues - the shower does not have a curtain so the floor can get wet, however we were in 15 different places all over Greece and just about all the showers were the same, open with no curtain.

Beautiful view from the balcony, convenient location close to tavernas, market, bus stop, the port and a short walk to the beaches. Interior tastefully designed and decorated. Very comfortable bed, well-stocked kitchenette with ample space and a beautifully inspired bathroom. The balcony jacuzzi at night was a wonderful way to end the day. A very big thank you to Giannis who set the tone of my stay here in Folegandros from the moment I arrived to the port. He treated me like family, gave me a tour of the island and was there for any requests I had.

Post card views. The pool and views of the ocean, islands and chora are absolutely spectacular. Perfect spot to view the sunset without the crowds. We never wanted to leave the pool area. The staff are very friendly, offer help to/from the ferry and clean the room everyday.

We enjoyed staying at the port.
We enjoyed staying at the port. It is quieter than the Hora (particularly in the evening) but there is a great choice of beautiful, low key family tavernas which gave us some of the best dining experiences of our trip and a great swimming beach. You can also easily walk to Pountia beach and some of the swimming bays between the port and Pountia. The bus service to the Hora runs hourly so you can easily access the restaurants and attractions of the Hora. We loved staying at ANEMI and would stay at Karavostasis for that alone.

If you want to stay amongst 'themonia' then this is your place. So quiet, so relaxed with views out to simple Cycladic beauty. Divine!!!! Only a 10 min stunningly scenic drive to Chora. We adored it here.

Agali is the perfect location.
Agali is the perfect location. The beach is beautiful and not too crowded with a few lovely Tavernas. It is easy to visit the Chora and catch a water ferry to other beaches. I think this is the best place to stay in Folegandros.

Briefly, this place is totally unsuitable for more than two guests. The second bedroom is a windowless cell with no proper furnishings. It is a fire death trap and should not be slept in. The property description is totally inaccurate. There are not two bathrooms. There is certainly no bidet or private bathroom.
It stank of tobacco.

I always believed that Folegandros would be one of the last...
I always believed that Folegandros would be one of the last commercialised islands, but now it seems to have turned full on its head, full of non residential Greeks arriving for the summer to look after hoards of foreign tourists thinking that they have found the "true" Greece. No Greek newspapers are sold on the island, and licences for bars and restaurants are usually refused to enable the island to keep its "traditional" self. But that was lost long ago, when its population left for other places, leaving an ageing 300 all-year-round residents to endure the winter.

The island is beautiful, rugged scenery, dramatic cliffs, gorgeous beaches. The port is quiet with a few casual restaurants. The town of Chora is small and very quaint and it is 4 mins by bus from the port. The church on the hill is worth visiting to see the sunset. Highly recommend the island of Folegandros, away from the hustle and bustle of some of the more popular Greek islands.

A quiet place off the beaten path for those that prefer to travel away from crowds. The supermarket had everything we needed and was approximately 400 meters from where we stayed. The views are like no other and absolutely stunning sunsets.

We would highly recommend staying in Agkali when visiting Folegandros. The beach is not only beautiful, with turquoise waters and golden sand, but it’s also the perfect starting point to explore nearby coves and hidden beaches.
It can get a bit crowded during the day — though we’ll admit we’re quite picky, as we usually prefer more secluded spots. That said, Agkali is still peaceful and it’s served by a few charming tavernas — our favorite was Pasithea.
In the evening, once the beach clears out, the place becomes truly magical: quiet, intimate, and almost private, with the sea in front of you and the stars above.

Truly the most picturesque and beautiful Greek island I have ever been to. Great for relaxing and chilling, romantic and authentic Cycladic vibes and style. Coming from the crowds of Santorini it was such a pleasant surprise and had an unforgettable time. Beautiful and untouched beaches with our favourite being Agali.
