This is an excellent small inn. I felt as though it lived up to its good reviews. Juan Carlos is a gracious and caring host who will go out of his way to make your stay enjoyable. In addition to simple, clean rooms there are comfortable common areas both inside and outside. Rooms are of average size, there is a/c plus a ceiling fan, (I stayed in March and never needed the a/c) and a small desk area with a chair. There’s an electrical outlet right at the desk. Bathrooms are fine. There's no hot water piped to the sink, but hot water in the shower is no problem. The location is very quiet, but it's a bit of a walk into the center. There are four options for breakfast daily. In addition, there is a cafe attached to the inn that serves lunch and dinner fare, as well as snacks, coffee and other beverages. Internet connectivity was slow, and reliability was sketchy while I was there. We also had a couple of power outages, which the inn can’t control, of course.

Lovely little town with beautiful colonial architecture.

Lovely little town with beautiful colonial architecture. It is very close to a national park where you can do hiking, there are a couple of small museums to visit (including one old fort), there are thermal baths close by. I felt very safe and enjoyed myself in this lovely location.

Gracias is as charming as ever.

Gracias is as charming as ever. If anything, there are more cafes now. Those around San Sebastian Church plaza are my favorites - Bistro Stela has a kiosk right on the plaza, Camino Maya has a cafe adjacent to the bontaical gardens next door, and Coffee Book has a spot overlooking both with terraces on two levels above ground and lots of books to read!
