The hospitality and the service you get in aryaduta is one of a kind. I have been here for 7 years now and every single time they give such good service. I feel so at home here and in palembang. Thanks to communication, the gm andre, security that helpt me every time with the stroler. And to the service in the lounge she just works there for 4 months but her service was great. We had a nice stay at Santika Radial hotel overall. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and attentive. Breakfast selections were VERY extensive and nicely presented. The hotel was conveniently located, with lots of establishment nearby. Parking spots were limited but we never had a problem finding a spot for both of our cars during our stay. Oh, and the welcome drink by the front desk was a nice bonus!

One should never expect too much of cities in Sumatra and...

One should never expect too much of cities in Sumatra and Palembang is no exception. The only area of any interest is the old commercial area near the river and the fort. The grand mosque is worth a cursory look, but the only building of any distinction is the greatly restored museum, which dates from Dutch times. Apart from that, Palembang is pretty unattractive, litter choked and to a large extent semi derelict.

Traveling is always interesting, enjoy it and have fun. It's my first time visit Palembang. Some people said nothing special. However maybe yes, maybe not. I think depend on how we look into, enjoy and have fun. I feel okay. Nice city with good icons like Ampera bridge, Belido statue, Sultan Mahmud Badarudin Mosque, City fountain, Cheng-Ho Mosque, River Side restaurant, Monpera Monument, Benteng Kuto Besak Plaza, Jakabaring Sport Center, a giant Al-Quran Museum, Songket Museum and Kemaro Island. I tried to ride a boat on the Musi-river, it was fun and an exciting experience. Another thing is the culinary. The famous ones are pempek, brengkes tempoyak, pindang, martabak, mie celor, tekwan, model dan sambal buah. Try it at the famous place and the sensation is really delicious. There is also dodol Lempok made from durian fruit and various kinds of fish crackers (kerupuk Palembang). For me, Palembang is a pleasant city with delicious culinary delights.
