We loved everything about this place! Lovely bungalow, garden with beautiful mountain view, 2 minutes from scar reef. People are super nice, food is great at the resto. Great place to connect with travelers and local community. It was adorable cats and puppies when we were there and as animal lovers we were spoiled.

The sunset/ocean view is to die for. The room is simple but comfy, small wooden cabana vibes. Jeff (the owner) is so friendly and kind. It’s obvious he genuinely wants his guests to have a great stay and enjoy the magic of Moyo. The waterfall is amazing. Pantai Satu and Takat Sagele snorkeling is some of the best I’ve done in my life, do it! It is super quiet, chilled vibes, so come prepared to relax.

As with many parts of Sumbawa, the garbage issue is a serious problem. I was amazed that there was garbage almost everywhere along the roads, in rivers, at tourist areas, at parking areas, really everywhere. Locals seem to easily toss their household garbage bags into the rivers or down the ridges alongside the roads. Most of the beaches were covered with plastic and other garbage (I know, it was the end of the rainy season). Reason enough to cross off Sumbawa for another visit.

Very friendly people in the village.

Very friendly people in the village. Visited the waterfalls on foot...very beautiful. Lots of butterflies and monkeys. Saw two wild bore and buffaloes as well as two snakes . And Gun...our host kindly repaired my partner's favourite old rucksack and wouldn't accept any payments.

Good starting point for tours in the area; I don't think there is as much to do in the city. I recommend Sumbawa Holiday Tours... great company and willing to accommodate; I did a one-day tour swimming with whale sharks that was incredible. Book any tours in this area in advance (do not rely on your hotel unless they give you specifics in advance... best to do it yourself). The multi-day tours seem great... wish I had done one! This area is tricky for solo travelers (especially female)... it seems like nearly all tours are private, which can feel uncomfortable or unsafe. I was fine, but I would have preferred group tours... I hope Sumbawa companies can make this change to make tours more affordable and easier to meet others.

If you want lots of people to socialize with and a big...

If you want lots of people to socialize with and a big choice of restaurants, bars and parties, stay at Lakey Peak’s main beach area. You’ll also be set up in front of the main left/right world class peak. However, if you want a retreat to a more quieter area for meals and sleep, with a pair of excellent surf spots in your backyard - 1 hollow / one soft and mellow, Cobblestones is hard to beat. It’s just a short motorbike ride down the road.

Sumbawa Besar is a very relaxed city.

Sumbawa Besar is a very relaxed city. I wouldn't say there is a lot to do in the city itself but a convenient location for exploring the area around Sumbawa Besar. Waterfalls and sarcophagus 20km outside Sumbawa Besar are definitely worth visiting. The people are extremely friendly - sitting down at a roadside warung for a coffee is a great way to meet the locals.

Amazing location with a view of 2 different surf breaks. Spacious property with many places to hang out and read or play games. Great wifi and friendly staff. They Cook a delicious dinner every night with a variety of food and it’s free!

Staying at Kura Kura Villas was the highlight of our visit...

Staying at Kura Kura Villas was the highlight of our visit to Sekongkang. The accommodation was just perfect and catered for all ones needs. The gardens were beautifully manicured and the pool was just perfect to relax about and read. Probably the best feature was the dining at the restaurant there, The staff were excellent, the food was amazing and the breakfast each morning which came with the accommodation was just the best start to each day. I cant wait to return.

The water was sensational - warm, clear and clean, which...

The water was sensational - warm, clear and clean, which in turn means fish and coral. The island has limited electricity which means limited refrigeration and wifi ( AND tourists, there were 15 when we where there) but that just added to the charm. The local villagers were extremely kind and their knowledge of their natural environment is generally encyclopaedic. This is an extremely special place and we were very lucky to have the opportunity to spend time there. Drop into the markets in Sumbawa before you go and load up on fresh fruit and vegies ( these are in limited supply on the island). Also take plenty of cash the other attraction of Mojo is no ATM or banking facilities. Take photos and leave footprints.

This area is mainly for surfers. There are few other activities for visitors. There are a number of local restaurants you can visit. Guest numbers appear to be increasing as the area recovers from COVID.
