"My stay in San Juan was great. I recommend renting a vehicle and exploring as much as you can. By the time you realize how much you spent on Uber trips, it would have been much better to rent a car, a small economy car is preferred. The roads could use a bit of pothole repairs and lighting. Old San Juan is lovely and I could probably spend days walking the area. Dining in Old San Juan, expect $100+ for 2 people, great food. Wear comfortable shoes, you'll be walking a lot and enjoying it, it will be both up and down hills. Amazing shops, lots of art and churches. Visit as many beaches as you can. BRING or BUY mosquito repellant. Drive up to El Yunque Park, and then continue driving to the top to see all that it offers and the views. Went to Culebra, and the ferry experience was not that great but the alternative is a flight, which if you can afford it during your trip, I would do it, roughly $200+ per person round trip. Ferry is $4 roundtrip plus parking $15 per day. The negative for me, I went to a beach and mosquitoes ate me up ... my legs and arms were eaten up by them. Had to see a dermatologist once I got back. It was truly severe, with hundreds of bites on my body. I thought it might have been bed bugs, but we inspected the sheets where we stayed."

"This is an opportunity to experience a simpler way of life in the tropics. Great opportunities to see beaches and go to excursions to reconnect with nature. To have a more enriched experience, I recommend you learn some Spanish phrases to get by. Thank God I spoke the language. If the region wants to thrive in the tourism industry, I highly recommend that they have people speak the language of commerce-English (they would generate more revenue). It may be easier to get by if you speak French as many people spoke that as well."

The food is always good there and there is always a bar around the corner. Life just slows down overthere. Hearing people speak French all around is soothing for me. "New Kingston was surprisingly beautiful, safe, clean and modern! Don’t let anyone fool you, it’s a beautiful place to be. I loved every minute of walking around by myself as a female tourist. I ate at Sweetwood Jerk Joint and Island Grill, and even tried the local Starbucks. I had a rental car with Google GPS so everything was very easy to find. I hung out in Emancipation Park until 10pm, which was serene and safe with lots of security and police around."

"Favorite spots to eat were Three Dives (jerk), Pushcart, and Best In The West (jerk). We got around by taxi - just ask at the hotel desk and they can easily arrange it for you. Traffic patterns are very different than in the US, so I don't recommend driving. We truly enjoyed snorkeling at the West End and saw a lot of variety. On Seven Mile Beach, we enjoyed walking along the beach and stopping in all the tiny bars for Red Stripes or Dirty Bananas. The late-night live music at Roots Bamboo and Woodstock were also really fun!"

"In past visits we did a great deal of sightseeing, but much less on this trip. We mainly walked around Ponce, enjoying the various types of architecture, visited local parks, especially the Parque de Bombas, the Art Museum, much of which was closed for renovation following hurricane. Sites we recommend for others include the Museum of Musical Instruments, the Art Museum, which will probably be fully open within the year. Other places we have enjoyed on past trips were a coffee plantation, the Castillo Serralles, the Tibes indigenous ceremonial site, and La Cruz del Vigia, which provides a grand view of the southern part of the island and the Caribbean. Another place we have visited in the past was El Jonque, the national park and tropical rain forest, which lies on the road between the airport in San Juan and Ponce. We will undoubtedly visit Ponce again, since it is less busy than San Juan."

Amazing view. Very helpful owners who even helped us plan our itinerary. The owners have done a fantastic job decorating the property and have amazing taste. Breakfast was amazing, we got French and Dominican breakfast. The owners had to migrate from Haiti because of gang violence, just wish we could support them more
