The hotel is newly built, all the equipments are very modern & beautiful. They use an app for no-waiting check-in & you can request 2h early check-in (1pm) with 1,500 yen. There are luggage room with locks to use if you come early. The room is very clean with newly furnitures & comfortable beds. Room is spacious and bigger than Japan standard. The Granvia is a comfortable and well run hotel located inside Kyoto Station. Kyoto Station is an architectural landmark and always a pleasure to see. It is also a transportation hub for busses, subways, and local train service, essential for visiting the far flung attractions of Kyoto. This was our fourth stay in this hotel. The hotel concierge service is exceptional, and I communicated frequently with my concierge contact, Saori, long before the start of the trip to arrange restaurants, and tourist visits. When she realized that we were interested in fusuma (Japanese sliding door painting), she located and identified a number of temples that were open only at very limited times, and that were not mentioned in any guidebooks.

This APA hotel is very good. Located very close to shin-Osaka station, very comfortable if you are traveling around Japan. Easy for day trips to Kyoto and other places. The area is quiet ( you don't hear the trains), not too much going on around. The staff was polite and helpful. Some speak English, some not. Breakfast was tasty, Japanese style, not too much choice, but enough for me. Some people wrote in the review that it's impossible to control the A/C in the room. Well in my room it was possible - you have a/C display on the bed. The bed is super comfy , I slept well.

Ie. shuttle bus from/to hotel to train station and ropeway, varieties of gold and silver onsens in one place are stunning we didn’t have to go other onsens to try both of them. So much to see and so much to do.

So much to see and so much to do. A week is definitely not enough. Never do Osaka and Tokyo in one trip. Rather take the Kansai region, and definitely leave a lot of time for Osaka and its amazing surroundings.

One of the best places in Japan to experience different eras...

One of the best places in Japan to experience different eras. People were generally friendly and it has the authenticity that I was looking for that may feel more washed up in other more cosmopolitan places. Recommendation: try to avoid crowds, they get to be too much at some point. Also, avoid that weight lifting challenge in that famous shrine, you can get injured for no reward at all.

Kobe itself is quite interesting from the harbour to the hills as well as the outer suburbs. I have family in Kobe and always enjoy visiting. It's a lot more laid back than Osaka and Tokyo. As with most cities in Japan, transport, food and shopping is always good. There are also many interesting places to sightsee and activities to experience. Motomachi chinatown is worth seeing, as is Harbourland. Take a ride on the ferris wheel and check out the city from the air. Mt Rokko is worth visiting...take the cable car for something different. Kitano district gives a good view of the old English & European homes of past eras. Go to Sannomiya and walk under the trainline through the alleways. Transport is easy and plentiful.

I love The Izumi-Sano Osaka because it's right by the sub-way station. 10 mins away from Outlet Store, 10 mins from a shopping Mall. Restaurants inside the hotel are very good. Staffs are very professional.

FUFU Nara is a beautiful and peaceful property in an excellent location, surrounded by nature and close to Nara Park. The accommodation itself is unique and offers a relaxing experience. However, for a property of this level and price range, I expected a higher standard of service. The reception could have been more welcoming and attentive, and the restaurant experience was disappointing. Communication about the courses, drinks and ingredients was sometimes unclear, and the overall level of service did not match our expectations. With improvements in hospitality and restaurant service, this could be an exceptional place to stay in Nara.

Beautiful city! Fantastic people! The best part is of course the castle - Himeji-jo! Then the great spots to eat, delicious food it almost every corner . High rated restaurants. The beautiful surroundings - the musuems and temples in and out the city. It has a nice mountain nearby. I highly recommend to visit!

Great place to visit; just enough off of the beaten track that it felt much less crowded than other areas we visited (Nara, Kamakura, e.g.). It helped that we stayed overnight, so the following morning in particular was a great time for sight seeing.

Tokoname is a (natural or artificial?)

Tokoname is a (natural or artificial?) island just long enough for the runway of Chubu Intl. Airport, ans wide enough a few airport hotels and some office buildings, workshops and storage buildings connected to the airport. There is a good railway connection to Nagoya. Tokoname is definitely *not* a tourist destination, but if you arrive late at night and are very tired after a long-haul flight, or if your plane leaves very early in the morning, it is extremely convenient to stay in one of the hotels, which offer good value for the price.

Shirahama beach for us was a base for exploring Wakayama. We found it a little run down and dated as a seaside resort but there were obvious efforts to redevelop and modernise it. We found good restaurants and bars open at the end of May. I imagine it gets very busy in peak summer season. SUNTIDE cafe and bar, BLUE Restaurant & bar, Pizzeria Pescatore were great food and drink spots in May. You really need a car to explore the area.

The street the hotel is in is beautiful.

The street the hotel is in is beautiful. There's lots to see and do nearby. You can go to the lake. There's a couple of really amazing cafés and restaurants nearby. The locals really want you to try and spend time in their town competing with Kyoto can't be easy, but it's well worth spending a day exploring Otsu.
