Maua is not a tourist town.
Maua is not a tourist town. Ikweta Safari Camp is about 50min drive toward Meru NP gate from Maua.
Main crop is Miraa. Harvested daily.
Few western meal options. Eat African.
Fruit and veg plentiful, wide variety and cheap.
There is a rhino sanctuary in Meru NP, near the Murera NP gate , no extra charge.

Maua, and the nearby Meru park, were an excellent place for a 3 night stop on our tour of Kenya. A little out of the way but the ride there through mountains was amazing. Maua as a town is not prosperous but we found friendly helpful people and never felt at risk. We even made a couple of friends who took us to a waterfall. A chance to see real rural Kenya even if we were trying to move through the curiosity of locals who clearly didn't see many people with our skin tone!
Hit the road and make the most of your trip by discovering another popular destination in Kenya.
