San Juan

Old Town, Historical Landmarks, Tropical beach
998 hotels
One of 3,048 reviews:
"San Juan has three major parts - Old San Juan, which is incredibly filled with charm but also cruise ship passengers. You can check cruise ship arrivals online to see how crowded it will be. You can easily spend 2 full days here exploring. Second is Condado, the high-rise hotel beach community with high-priced restaurants. And third is the rest of the city, where people actually live. We enjoyed time in the first and third. Many might not feel safe in the "rest of the city" where not everyone speaks English and there are a mix of moderate to poor people living. But it's a much more authentic view of what should be our 51st state. We had some of our best meals at locals-only restaurants and everyone was friendly and helpful. PR has 40% less crime than average in the U.S., and in similar-sized states it's as much as 3 times less. Also recommend the east - Liquillo, Fajardo, El Yunque and the activities available there."

"Yenny, Our butler was extremely helpful. Very nice. She booked dinner reservations for us and offered many suggestions. All the staff that we encountered were extremely pleasant. My only complaint would be the Wi-Fi which was spotty, and since we were expected to use our telephones for many things, I recommend they work on the Wi-Fi being a little more available."

Willemstad

One of 2,426 reviews:
"The people of Willemstad were friendly and helpful. It is a beautiful place with a little treasure down every alleyway. I stayed for 8 days and found something new almost everyday. I rented a car for 3 of the 8 days and was able to explore the entire island. Definitely make a trip to see the flamingos! I was able to park on the side of the road and walk to where they were feeding. I also recommend the sip and paint by Vibe & Paint, so relaxing and the view was amazing! I was able to choose my picture(pre-drawn)paint inside the lines(bc I can’t draw a stick person)and it was the perfect size for packing in my carry on. The “snack” that comes with it, along with a complimentary drink, was more like a meal. Such a great value at $50. The car rental(for 3 days)was also great value at $147. Some of the food was a little pricey but everything was delicious. As a solo traveler, the sip and paint was the only actual excursion I did but there is so much to do without paying a dime. Exploring all the culture and history of the island is only a short walk from anywhere. Driving is just like in the US, watch out for other drivers and you’ll be fine. I downloaded Mapsme.com and was able to navigate easily."

"The beaches are always the main reason. I love the little town lifestyle. Just going around enjoying the litle pleasure of life. The food is always good there and there is always a bar around the corner. Life just slows down overthere. Hearing people speak French all around is soothing for me. It's the perfect carribean life for me."

The Monument is a nice area to visit, and there are a lot of stores in the City center. If you visit Santiago, get out and see the city."

Amazing view. Very helpful owners who even helped us plan our itinerary. The owners have done a fantastic job decorating the property and have amazing taste. Breakfast was amazing, we got French and Dominican breakfast. The owners had to migrate from Haiti because of gang violence, just wish we could support them more

I had a fantastic short stay at Karibea Saint Luce Hotel. Everything about the experience was enjoyable—from the warm hospitality to the excellent accommodations. The room was comfortable, clean, and well-maintained, providing the perfect space to relax. The food was also a highlight of my stay. Every meal was delicious, with a great variety of options that truly enhanced the experience. The hotel's atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was top-notch. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant and relaxing stay. I look forward to visiting again in the future! .

I've been a regular customer since the beginning and seeing that it's still the same but constantly improving in every way make me realize the management and personnel has done a fantastic job. This hotel and green areas are gorgeous; the pool area is absolutely beautiful, and the room was very comfortable with a jacuzzi and shower and a balcony overlooking the sea. Congratulations and best wishes for continued success. I will definitely keep coming back, whether as a couple or with the family.

Lovely hotel with beach views. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. On site bar, restaurant looking out at the ocean. Friendly staff. On site secure parking . Really nice place 👌 I would stay more often if it was a little less expensive maybe on weekdays or certain seasons it could be less expensive for example if it isn't in high demand. I know it's a hotel not bnb but I feel 120/ night is more average especially as breakfast isn't free

The arrangements with transportation and the resort were top-notch. There was a large crowd of tourists mostly at customs and immigration, but I was surprised how fast it moved. The return was somewhat chaotic since all the passengers have to first check in one area and then walk for about three minutes to where the airlines counters are situated and where one goes through security

San Juan is a beautiful city but inflating has soared as high as Hawaii. There are too many vendors trying to sell you stuff at overpriced. For example a pina colada from a street vendor costs 22 dollars, plus tip, plus tax (11%). Ridiculous for a place that produces pineapples.

Curaçao is a small island that is perfect for a relaxing trip of about 7 to 10 days. It's a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy the beaches and atmosphere. One thing to keep in mind is transportation. Public transportation is very limited—I hardly ever saw a public bus, and there were very few taxis. As a tourist, it's highly recommended to rent a car or a scooter to explore the island comfortably. Another thing I really loved was the incredible mix of cultures and languages. The island has a unique international vibe, and the warm tropical weather with high humidity is perfect if you enjoy getting a nice tan quickly!

The hip strip was a strip of roadway that is very accommodating to tourists. Anything you need would be offered. We love how Montego Bay is not a far drive to the international airport. The famous Doctors Cave Beach was such a beautiful beach that one could stay all day there. And we were blessed to have a lovely driver take us to the KFC in Montego Bay that I must say, that thier chicken tastes better than other KFC’s we have had in Europe, North America, or in South America.

Puerto Plata is a beautiful place overall, and I actually had a really good time—just not at the place I stayed. What I liked: The people were great—friendly, welcoming, and full of good energy I had a lot of fun exploring outside, enjoying the city, beaches, and local spots The culture, music, and vibe make it a place you can truly enjoy What I didn’t like: My accommodation was terrible, which affected part of the experience Some places can be hit or miss, so where you stay really matters Overall: Even though my stay at the property was bad, Puerto Plata itself was a great experience. The people and the environment made up for it. I would definitely come back—but next time, I’ll choose a better place to stay. Tip: Do your research on accommodations. The location is amazing, but your stay can make or break the experience

A relaxed beach town, and major step-off point for trips to Saona Island. The place is buzzing at the start and end of the day when island trips depart and return, but otherwise it's relaxed and friendly. Plenty of places to eat and drink at night. Overall, far more liberty to wander and take trips than if you're stuck at a resort :-)

I love how lively Ocho Rios is.

I love how lively Ocho Rios is. I think it's very central to most activities and is still authentic in a way where most tourist destinations try to hard to impress foreigners and end up washing out the culture. Everyone was very nice and approachable and offered help where they could. They're very laid back and nothing seems to bother them. The vibe was 10/10. There's something there to do for every age group. Food is next level, including their fast food restaurants. Places that I don't eat at home, tasted like a new world in Jamaica. KFC, Burger King and Pizza Hut were a nice treat for my kids when they wanted something familiar towards the end of their two week stay and having had only local food and snacks majority of the trip. Great for families but would probably be cool for a solo trip as well.

We didn't rent a car and there is not much public transportation in the area. If you want to get places, you need to walk or take taxis, and they are expensive. But the town is interesting. Lots of restaurants, lovely marina and fishing port, as well as a market in the town centre. Some lovely beaches nearby, but you need a car.
