"Mainz is a fantastic city. It has all the flavors what I long for. The strong history heritage, z.b. Mainz dom; the best wein Jard region of the world, z.b Rhine Weingau; authentic German food; the active growing business environment; the city is not big but just big enough for everything. Mainz is the city , the longer you stay, the more you love and you will go away. Ich liebe Mainz."

"I have been all over Italy and Greece visiting ancient Roman and Greek ruins. I knew there were Roman ruins in Germany and that the best are in Trier, but it took me years to make it to Trier. I should have done this 20 years ago! I was simply astounded by the amazing basilica of Constantine and the Porta Negra in Trier. I spent only one day in Trier rushing madly about, but I think this might be a two-day town--I didn't have time to make it through all the collections of the regional museum. Incidentally, the Trier Dom is simply spectacular. It was because I lingered there so long that I didn't have time to make it through all the collections of the museum. Highly recommended."

One of 4,603 reviews:
"Koblenz is a fantastic city packed with history, charm, and plenty to explore. I highly recommend taking a scenic boat cruise along the Rhine — it’s one of the best ways to appreciate the stunning river landscapes and picturesque castles dotting the hills. Don’t miss the cable car ride up to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views over the Deutsches Eck, the famous meeting point of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. Wander through the Altstadt (Old Town), filled with cozy pubs, vibrant restaurants, and lively squares. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for enjoying local wines or a hearty meal. And of course, no visit to Koblenz is complete without trying a Kowelenzer Schängelche the mischievous local schnapps and the iconic fountain hidden in the courtyard of the town hall (Rathaus). Ask a local where to find it the little bronze boy."

"We stayed in Cochem for 3 days to get over jet lag before our Rick Steves tour. Reichsburg Cochem is the castle owned by the town, and it's worth the walk, the views and tour of the castle, which are available in English or German. A lovely small town with character, lots of restaurants and shops. It's also easy to head up to Rick Steves' favorite castle Burg Elz, via short train to Moselkern or by ferry. The town is compact, so it was easy to catch a train to the start of our next tour."

"What a beautiful, picturesque town on the Mosel river! So pretty!! Lots of shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. The Christmas market was lovely!! Lots of parking right outside of the main square of Bernkastel, only costs a few euro for several hours. Super cute little church on both ends of the bridge. A must-see town on the Mosel river!"

All the positive comments are correct. On top of that, its a fantastic base for beautiful autumn color hikes in this wonderful valley. Also, in this time of the year, it is good to book for a longer time, - we did 6 nights-, and combine it with some remote working, as the accommodation is super comfortable, even when the sun does not shine in late October!

Fantastic hotel! Breakfast options were plentiful with eggs made to order. We stayed in the Lifestyle Suite which was huge with lost of space for our dog to move around in and clean with a good modern feel. It was quiet in the evenings and had a mini fridge in it with a few items to buy. The location was great also with the Mosel being a few feet away. We didn't eat dinner there, but the small bar was great and the bartender (curly reddish/brown hair) was really nice and made outstanding cocktails. Small parking lot, but we found a spot to park our car. Would definitely recommend the place and stay there again.

A very pleasant and interesting experience in Trier...like a travel in a timecapsule back into the past. The Porta Nigra was not build in one day, but the Romans were the big influencer. Welterbe, Wein und Wissen like Gladiatoren, Geister und Geheimnisse I think says it all. Trier is the oldest city in Germany and the most well rounded, in all catagories. I would always take time out of my schedule to take a detour to visitTrier again:-) A multi-talented City for ALL.

For the traveler that wants to see the less wonderful parts of the country to get a better view of the totality of a culture, Worms is a must stop. While parts of the country show little evidence of the impact of middle-easterners on the culture, the opposite is true in Worms. You can draw your own conclusions on the root cause, but Worms definitely has a different feel to it than other communities. We traveled there due to the Luther history, that being the monument and the cathedral where the Diet of Worms was held in the 1500's.

plan your visit with the wineries and vineyard owners in mind, as there are many small villages which can be reached by train or bicycle . They all have wine festivals at different times of the year and are great to go too and free apart from the Delicious wine. If you can get to go to Otto Dill art gallery that very nice to visit , Hambach Schloss is a castle on the hill its the home to the foundation of Deutschland democracy and has a brilliant museum and cafe with views. the town has some very old buildings some going back to 1368 and great art work such as water fountains , busts-of the two lovers johann and kunigunde which has a very interesting legend attached. a stream to dip your feet in during hot days and loads of shops to visit.
