Such a peaceful , beautiful small boutique property in a leafy, green residential area of Lilongwe. The hotel is decorated with stylish local Malawi wood carvings and art . All of the staff and owners (on site ) so friendly and helpful and restaurant on site convenient with tasty food . Good wifi

I really enjoyed the warm and welcoming atmosphere at Sunbird Lilongwe. The staff were exceptionally friendly, always smiling, and ready to help with anything I needed. The environment felt comfortable and relaxing, making my stay very enjoyable. The rooms were clean and well maintained, and the overall service was excellent.

This lodge is a gem, quiet and in a nice area. The rooms are cozy, beautiful, comfortable, with direct access to the garden. Very relaxing common areas with self-serve bar, only four rooms so it’s never crowded. One of the best places to stay in this part of the world.

Lilongwe shows the reality of a country with limited resources: the state of the roads and general city upkeep makes it clear that public funding is scarce. But what really struck me was the contrast with the people’s attitude. Despite the broader challenges, locals do their best to make their city nicer — you see little patches of flowers and greenery everywhere, as if they’re determined to add beauty wherever possible. One practical note: taxis are expensive because petrol costs around $3 per litre, so it’s worth considering alternative transport options or budgeting extra for rides.

Lilongwe is the main entry point - as a city it is of no especial interest although it is nice to have a few days relaxing before or after exploring the country at somewhere like Green Elephant Hotel The main attractions are of course Lake Malawi which the closest point of Sengha Bay is about 2 hours and various game reserves like Liwonde Currently Malawi has a fuel crisis which means travel is restricted - check this before planning a trip

The city is beautiful and its people warm and welcoming, my favorite place so far is Kumbali Lodge, I went there for a concert and then an early diner, the space is beautiful. I would definitely visit again and explore some more.
