"We visited outside the season and enjoyed that there wasn't any overcrowding. It was easy to walk into any of the bars, restaurants or cafes and get an available table. We were lucky with the weather and fully enjoyed the beach and the promenade and a quick trip by tram into Den Haag. The tram ride took all of 10 - 15 minutes, buying a ticket was straight forward and easy. Breakfast at Oceans Beach is a strong recommendation, they even catered for special dietry requests and couldn't have been more welcoming. Dinners at Sumo and Big Bell were very pleasant and tasty."

"Vlissingen is a beautiful little city that is great for a relaxing weekend or few days away from home. It is relatively quiet, but the restaurants and cafés make for a great ambiance. The beaches are a beautiful sight and great for a stroll or just to sit down on and watch the ships come by. I would highly recommend going to SOIF for dinner or even just some drinks!"

"We were only there for a few days and this combined with the 'Waddenweather' I would have wanted to stay a bit longer. Our stay at the Smederij was nothing short of perfect and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to visit De Cocksdorp. You're right next to de Slufter and various other nature reserves and parks. A short walk brings you to the Waddensea for a muddy walk. We rented e-Bikes in town and for food I'd definitely recommend Bij Joost, which offers a variety of local beers, lunch and dinner. Great service and great food for non-touristy prices. Be sure to call ahead and make reservations if you want to have dinner in town anywhere that isn't the snack place. Almost all restaurants have vegetarian options, but vegan options come with more research. Right across from Bij Joost is a water playground, a table tennis table and some wooden games like connect four and Ludo (mens-erger-je-niet). Visit the Bird Information centre if you're here for birdwatching. They sell a huge collection of guides, souvenirs, birdhouses and binoculars (the quality and prices are for true bird fans though) and even have a surprising collection of stuffed birds local to the area to check out. Each Thursday in summer there's a market which offers a lot of second hand goods, but also local foods (cheese, fish, sausage) and clothing. The Plus supermarket is open each day of the week for your regular groceries and budget-friendly snacks."

I’ve stayed here several times, and as always, everything was perfect. The rooms are spotless, the breakfast couldn’t be better, and the staff is extremely friendly. This time, I mistakenly booked a room with two double beds. Even though Booking.com said changes weren’t possible, the hotel had no problem switching me to a room with a large bed. Simply the best hotel in the area! Zierikzee is one of my favorite towns – a beautiful village by the sea.

Everything was great. We loved the swimming pool, sauna, and steam bath. The wellness facility was very clean. Our room was nice with a very comfortable nice King bed. I slept like a baby. The breakfast was top notch with many options. I loved that there was a good combination of cold and warm foods as my american husband likes to eat eggs and bacon for breakfast while I enjoy a sandwich or croissant. We will come back to this hotel if we are in the area again.

It was a pity that the hotel was still being refurbished. But the staff were extremely helpful . No doubt now it will be super to stay and have restaurant facilities. Being a booking for same day for 2 rooms and easter we were lucky to find the Charlton beach hotel. Would highly recommend it. Also handy that the tram stops in front of the hotel.

Perfect beach front for family with young kids, all the restaurants are very child friendly the beach is not deep so I wasn’t worried for the kids.. Nuis and Kayuca are great restaurants in the beach front.. We occasionally dig in the food trucks which is delicious as well.. The beach will be enough to keep the kids busy and for the parents to relax 😎

THe beach is beautiful. You can walk for miles. It's sandy not rocky, with tiny seashells. I think they must clean the beach every morning as there was very little garbage laying around. The pier has two levels, making for a nice walk out into the water with nice views. It was fun watching people bungy jump and zip line. There are many fast food choices on the bottom level with an arcade and play area for children on the bottom level.

The town is quite small with everything being in close proximity to each other which is great! Plenty of different types of restaurants to cater for every taste. The Post Office is situated in a bike shop, if you need to send a card back home - speedy service our cards arrived within a week, brilliant. Two supermarkets are located at the edge of town, Lili, and Jumbo so very easy to use. Point to note, generally in Holland cash has virtually become redundant being a cashless society. So if you bring 100's with you be prepared to take them back, that't how life is becoming, sadly!

This is beautiful coastal city boasting clean beaches. The annual Fair was in town while we were there & coupled with the market, made for a delightful walking tour through downtown. We strolled the promenade, had drinks & treats at a variety of cafes & found the cutest shops to browse. Most of our time was spent with my extended family, which made our visit all that much more enjoyable.

Egmond aan Zee is a charming little beach town in the Netherlands with all the shops and Restaurants you could wish for. As a family of four we liked to walk to the Dekamarkt for our daily breakfast and snacks at the beach. At night we would eat at restaurants, at the typically Dutch snackbar 'Bij Brigitte' or eat Kibbeling(fish) at the Coast. We rented bikes for the day to travel further out. The remains of a castle in Egmond aan de Hoef was very interesting for our preteens and the next coastal town over 'Bergen aan Zee' was lovely as well. We visted the Aquarium there which was facinating for the entire family. Venturing out by foot into the Duinen is recommended as well. We saw wild Horses, oxes and a gorgeous sunset. In the Smidstraat there was a little secondhand Shop full of antiques. So much so that it seemed more a Museum than a shop! Everybody seemed to be able to speak a little German and if not their amazing english skills were impressive! I hope you have a wonderful time in Egmond aan Zee.

Nes is a cosy, historical village, not cheap, but not very expensive either. It is the harbor village located almost in the middle of Ameland and therefore perfect for day trips to either direction. The restaurants are good quality, so is the ice-cream, the vegetables and everything else you can buy. There is a great supermarket called Jumbo on the main road from the ferry. If you want to go for hikes, nature with lots of birds, deer and wild rabbits are just a short walk away. The Amelanders love their horses, and they are everywhere.

Great beaches, amazing seafood, easy to get around, supermarkets close, nature nearby. Prices for a place to stay can be very reasonable if booked in advance. Last minute bookings can be hard to find and pricey. Highly recommended for peace & quiet. I have read about family activities--but am too old to bother visiting.
