"We visited for Euro 24 so our visit was geared around watching football & spending time in the many bars of the Alstadt! The old town is great for wandering around & visiting the large number of bars/restaurants. If visiting for a city break there are not a large number of tourist attractions, but I would still recommend a 2 night stay to this wonderful, friendly city."

"Not much to do in Essen. I was there for a security event, so it was a fly-in fly-out for four days. I wanted to have time to visit some historical sights, but nothing within walking distance from the city centre. The town is full of shops, restaurants and bars. But that's pretty much it; I wouldn't recommend it as a place to visit."

"Much smaller than its close neighbour, Cologne, Bonn does not get behind in terms of its great history, multicultural feeling, amazing food and drink options, excellent variety and efficiency of public transportation system, excellent facilites for pedestrians and cyclers and vibrancy of overall urban life, even late at night. And it really gets forward in terms of great historic architecture, public spaces, safeness and costs. I really enjoyed the experience, even for a work trip, I just loved wandering around the historic center, the Rhine front, the central train station and all the way south to the World Conference Center and west to the Alter Friedhof. All I saw, lived, ate and bought was met with nice people, great spots for taking pictures and amazing experiences. Would have loved to stay longer, to visit its many museums."

"This is a beautiful city, lots of history, and was rebuilt after WWII with the downtown rebuilt in the same style and appearance as the old city had been, You MUST see the market on Wednesdays or Saturdays on the Domplatz as it is one of the best in Germany. See the museums and read about the three protestants who were killed and bodies displayed in iron cages for centuries hanging from a church bell tower. This was a Catholic area. This was a Nazi area. This is now home to a large University of Münster. Great food."

"I went to the centro allee/westfield area. I can not tell you about the actual city/old part. I highly recommend the gasometer museum and the topgolf. Other than that there is also sea life and lego land in the area. The shopping center is really big, everything is there. There were some bad restaurants but also some really good! Highly recommend L’osteria. We used the lime bikes/steps as transportation, which added extra fun to our trip. I think this area is perfect for shopaholics, family with children or young people my age (15-35)"

I stayed for six nights, and everything was spotless and well-maintained. The room was spacious, with an efficiently equipped kitchen—perfect for a short stay. The self check-in process was simple and convenient, using just the family name. The hosts provided me with a fan and an iron as my prior request, which I truly appreciated. Although the property is a bit outside Cologne, the bus stop is only a 3-minute walk away (about 280 m). From there, it takes around 30 minutes to reach the city center. Within walking distance (600–800 m), you’ll also find restaurants, a bakery, a supermarket, and a pharmacy. The location itself is quiet and peaceful, making it easy to rest and enjoy a good night’s sleep. I loved everything about my stay here and would highly recommend it.

We stayed an extra night at Haus Stehlings, unfortunately the apartment (Monschau Suite) we stayed at on the previous days was already taken for that extra night. The room switch went smooth with an easy key swap by the entrance. This room (Tuchmacherzimmer) was a lot smaller than the Monschau Suite, but more than fine for the night! The room was clean and the bed was as comfortable as the one in the Monschau Suite. The refrigerator was very convenient as we had some food and drinks to keep cold before our journey home. Johannes and his staff are always friendly and easy to reach by phone or whatsapp. We’ve stayed in Monschau numerous times and we can’t help but come back to Haus Stehlings! The sound of the river right next to Haus Stehlings and the monumental atmosphere of the apartment complex are amazing. 100% recommend! The pictures are views from the window before and after the snow ❄️

Location is wonderful! Right next to a shopping street with a few cafe options for breakfast, book shops and clothing if you're into it. Trasport also very easy, and by a short walk - the city center. Hotel itself is wonderful - great staff, VERY comfortable bad and pillows, and a whole atmosphere is that you have your privacy, even when sitting in the lobby.

A 2.5hours walking tour was excellent, and covered the Old City well. Most of the time was spent listening to the guide, so no long-distance walking! Koln has lot of character, developed through some of the heaviest bombing of WW2, and resulting in informal 'bomb parties' when - as regularly happens - development turns up old munitions. In addition, the Carnival season runs more-or-less from November through to Mardi Gras, which together with a young population gives the city a vigorous air despite its ancient history going back to the Romans (Cologne derives from Colony). They are fiercely proud of their slightly hoppy beer, and have various regulations around its brewing and consumption. Lots of restaurants. Ethnically mixed, with a particularly large Turkish/German community - sometimes feels a bit like new York. The riverside near the Cathedral is delightful, especially in the evening, with loads of restaurants and great people-watching.

Dusseldorf felt like a rather soulless city.

Dusseldorf felt like a rather soulless city. There are not many attractions for tourists. The Rhine tower was good for views. The Altstadt was disappointing being full of noisy beer swilling youths and there were security searches to enter the area. It was difficult to get around as it was clear there was once a tram system but it is gone so there was a lot of walking. The airport security was disgusting - one of the worst I have ever encountered out of hundreds. In spite of having priority it took over 40 mins to clear my cabin baggage as they appear never to have seen a camera before. I will take care never to use Dusseldorf airport again.

We went to Cologne. It is world famous. But it was disgustingly dirty around the cathedral and city centre. And it was absurdly expensive. Aachen was a little gem of a city. Safe, clean, truly beautiful in places and lots of regeneration going on. It was the best city we stayed in on our trip. It was pretty reasonably priced and Aachen cathedral, which is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, was free. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

Definitely not a 4-star hotel.

Definitely not a 4-star hotel. First of all, the room lacked basic amenities: no safe for valuables, no closet for clothes, no phone to contact reception, and not even a simple shower cap. A lot of rooms have broken AC and broken lights in the bathroom. Reception people are very slow and helpless. You need to walk from 4th floor to ground floor if any issues as no phone to call reception. They say call on mobile but as foreigner people we must pay for call which is ridiculous because they do not provide service that should be. Do not follow up on what promissed to guests. At checkout, they offered a 20% refund due to all the inconvenience, but we never received it, and no one responded to follow-up messages when we approached them about when we get refund back. Extremely unprofessional. We will never return and will strongly advise others to avoid this place.
