A waterfront bungalow with a deck? We absolutely loved it. We wanted a waterfront experience without paying the crazy high prices of an overwater bungalow, and this was an awesome option for a good price! I don't really understand the negative reviews of this place. If you read the description and listen to the check-in instructions upon your arrival, everything is made super clear! Yes, it's by the road, as are most of the houses and hotels on this island since the road follows the coastline. Yes, there are some bugs, but that's what's to be expected when you're staying on a tropical island. No, there's no beach (as you can see in the photos), and there really only are a couple of beaches on the entire island, but there's a dock you can swim off of and amazing snorkeling just outside your bedroom door. What more could you ask for? Our bed had a mosquito net and a fan kept us nice and cool in the evenings. The staff was incredibly kind and informed us of the meal times upon our arrival. Most of the island follows those same meal times too. I highly recommend!

We absolutely loved the position, it's right on the best beach in Moorea in our opinion, close to the supermarket and the accommodation has anything you'd need to self organize, but also is very close to restaurants and other shops. The beach is absolutely stunning and kids friendly, full of snorkeling spots with colored fishes, stingrays, baby sharks, just a little swim away. The internet was working very well too.

I loved the location right at the beautiful clear beach with sharks, stingrays coming sometimes by and lots of fish to snorkel with. Nice people, I slept in the dorm and a fan was good enough. Good breakfast with fruit and baguette with homemade marmalade

friendly place, a lot of great places to eat, and beaches to explore. Take your own snorkeling gear so much easy when you have a rental car, you can stop anywhere for a swim and snorkel. Great having a pool to relax around after a day out and about.

The scenery was spectacular. The people were very friendly. The beach was excellent. It was great to be able to lay under a palm tree for shade. A car is strongly recommend. It is easy to drive around the island, the roads are perfect. The island is very quiet, except for the roosters which add a fabulous authenticity to the island experience.

Maharepa is a well centre hub for the island.

Maharepa is a well centre hub for the island. It has banks, a supermarket, small shops/ boutiques , souvenir shops and eateries. A medical centre and pharmacy, all in walking distance. It is best to have a car for travelling around the island, there is only one main road. We did the Motu island day trip swimming with stingrays and blacktip reef sharks. Absolutely amazing! There are some lovely places to eat at on the island Plus, there are plenty of pearl shops!

Beautiful rustic setting, close to gorgeous beaches, friendly people. Great if you like water sports - kayak, jetski, snorkeling, diving, swimming, just lounging in the clear warm water! You will need a rental car to get around no matter where you stay - no uber. You can drive around the whole island in about an hour. A great tour to take from Albert Tours is the snorkeling with sharks & rays. It includes a nice lunch.

We appreciated the short walk into the village cafes and shops. The roads here were good and Cooks Bay area was beautiful! We especially enjoyed happy hour at sunset at Cooks Bay Hotel and the delicious pizza at Allo Pizza. There were some excellent beaches and hikes not far from where we stayed.

Amazing location right on the beach.

Amazing location right on the beach. Perfect size bungalow for our 2 families, 7 total people. People gather at the beach and dock in front of the house because it is the best place to watch sunrise/ sunset. Huge trees in front of the house provide shade. Scubapiti dive center right next door, run by Henry, an excellent guide. Dive boats leave from the dock in front of the house. We also used the tennis court on the property and it was nice. If you are looking for a beach house for a dive vacation, this is the one. Decor is quaint, and simple-- house is rustic rather than modern or stylish. 2 kayaks on site which we used a lot. Restaurants in the area are hit and miss; consider eating at the house as the view is unbeatable. Hostess is friendly.

Swimming with the current from the top of Temae beach down to the Sofitel was incredible. About 600m of aquamarine water with tropical fish to watch was amazing. A little bit anxious driving on the other side of the road though it was fine, the locals were great and very understanding.

The idea of the Te Orange Hau "lodge" is lovely which is why I booked it. But it does not deliver. It was a sham of what was represented on the website. We stayed in the back one bedroom cottage with the bedroom up some narrow stairs with no light at night. The place was dirty with moldy shower curtain shower. In the morning I wakened to rat poo next to my toothbrush. The bathroom is literally "under the stairs". The kitchenette is hardly that. There was an unworkable electric hot plate, a tiny fridge and we absolutely could not "prepare meals" in that kitchen. Good restaurants are at least 20-25 minutes away from Affareaitu. There are 2 cottages in front. I do not know what they are like but the website combines the best pictures of all of them and presents them as the cottage they are offering. This is dishonest. Moorea is a difficult place to find another place to stay when you are under the gun. Luckily we were able to find something else and only had to stay there for 2 miserable nights. Don't ruin your time on this beautiful island.
