LatviaThis place was fantastic and spotless. The lounge area, which also serves breakfast, had coffee and tea all day long. Our room was cozy and quite spacious. For breakfast, they had three cooked-to-order options. I tried two of them, and both were delicious.
Our room faced the tram tracks, so we kept the window shut but opened the bathroom window for some fresh air. Surprisingly, the street noise was less than I thought it would be.
A couple of highlights: the staff was amazing. We had a problem with the refrigerator, and they were ready to help us even after 10 PM when we arrived. We decided to take care of it in the morning instead.
The beds were incredibly comfy; once I lay down, I didn’t want to get up!
I would definitely recommend this place!

Location is ideal for a good sleep after active day. Quiet and comfy. The wellness centre (saunas/tepidarium and swimming pool with whirlpool) have the extra benefit of having great views: swimming and actually seeing sunshine outside, resting after sauna with the view of the mountains and the ice pool next to saunas is actually outdoor, but well hidden from sight - felt great! The same goes for restaurant: loads of natural sunlight and in the summer time, if you plan your dinner right, you can actually watch the sunset from the restaurant/terrace. Flowers and other decorative plants are well designed and enhance the beauty of the place. Staff are very friendly and professional at the same time. Our doggy was treated well. Last but not least: the food is excellent. Breakfast is rich and super tasty, dinner a la carte exceeded expectations. Highly recommended!

The location of the hotel under the hills with a nice view into the valley. The road is next to the hotel, but our quiet room was OK. Staff was super helpfull, when we were approaching the hotel (which is slightly up hill) we encountered by accident the hotel manager(owner?) with a van who picked us up and brought us to the hotel - it was coincidence, but felt as a warm gesture. The other staff was helpfull and friendly as well. We had a minor issue in the room and staff was immediatelly ready to help. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. There are hiking tracks around and the surrounding nature is beautiful.

I have known Ostrava for many years and it has changed a...
I have known Ostrava for many years and it has changed a great deal. Most of the changes are for the better but as in many cities the development of outer areas seems to be negatively impacting the centre. The Czech commercial habit of closing shops on Saturdays is baffling to me, especially as more women now go to work during the week so that weekends are increasingly the only free time to browse, shop or enjoy parks and cafes.

It is a town with an industrial atmosphere, cut in two halves with a frequented motorway. Lots of old delapidated factory buildings. There are some nice places, like the main squares of Frýdek and Místek or the park by the river Ostravice, but the general feeling is not very inspiring. The best thing is the short distance to the beautiful Beskydy mountains, which are easily accessible by bus, train or car.
It is easy to get around on foot or on the local buses.

The fact we traveled from Ireland for new years celebrations and the hotel closed all facilities on new years at 8pm and did not reopen until we had left. This meant we were left trying to find a supermarket or restaurant in the area to get some food. An utter disgrace.

I followed the address provided in the Booking.com...
I followed the address provided in the Booking.com confirmation message, but it led me to a police office on Google Maps. There was no sign of a hotel at that location. In the evening darkness, it was impossible to find the correct building. The phone number provided by Booking.com did not answer either calls or messages, and only after 40 minutes I received a reply in Czech. On top of that, the location was marked with a sign forbidding entry by car, which made access even more complicated.
The price shown on Booking.com was in euros, while other hotels in the area were listed in Czech korunas. By paying in CZK, the final amount turned out to be higher in euros than stated in the confirmation message. After registration and payment—done at a restaurant bar—I was led through the back area of the restaurant to another building. The whole process felt confusing and unprofessional, raising serious doubts about whether this is an official hotel at all.
What I liked: the building seemed very safe (most likely connected with the police office nearby), breakfast was good, and the room itself was quite clean with a comfortable mattress.

Ostrava is an interesting city with a unique industrial charm and a vibrant cultural scene. The lively Stodolní Street and the impressive Dolní Vítkovice industrial area are definite highlights worth visiting.

Ostrava is having a bit of an image reshape from it's old industrial look, now the riverside is much nicer, and I saw many improvements in progress.
For a mining city, the air quality (on a weekend) was good. There are a few nice restaurants at the main square.
When I arrived, a local recommended I find a friendly bar called, "The Dock", nice open place close to the river. good food... I know ... food again....
If you come to Ostrava, you must see the zoo!
