The hotel is conveniently located near the airport—great for both our late-night arrival and early morning departure—but it is also in a charming walkable neighborhood just two blocks from the Mekong River and a 10-minute taxi ride to downtown. Our room was clean, comfortable, and classy. Even our standard room was a generous size with a comfortable bed, premium linens, quality bathroom fixtures, stylish crown moulding, and a large natural wooden desk that provided a warm touch of Laos. The staff were friendly, helpful, and professional—even when we had to check in late and leave early. This was the perfect spot to start and end our stay in Vientiane with a bit of convenient exploration in between.

Where to start. I just stayed one night, but what a night it was amazing from the cleanliness of the place to large room the huge windows facing the Mekong river with a breathtaking sunset and sunrise, a wide selection for breakfast from Thai to western style and finally the staff were amazing, kind and so helpful. Especially Nok, thank you again for the help from sending my huge bike box across thailand and helping me with the crossing to Lao. I'll stay longer next time. If you are looking for a place to stay in Nakhon Phanom look no further.

They adhered to our requests on booking, because we travelled as a family. The whole place is awesome really. The breakfast and the breakfast setting was second to none, sitting in the open air on the banks of the mighty Mekong, and not a sound. All the staff were really great and attentive. The grounds are immaculate. The feel of the place was very realaxing and satisfying.

Spent a couple of days exploring the area.

Spent a couple of days exploring the area. The Art Forest was a beautiful experience and is a must. Beautiful design, wonderful lunch, the fog forest is an immersively playful delight. The area has many interesting contemporary hospitality paces like HIM - a brutalist cafe in the middle of a field. The national park is a treat for hikes - from waterfalls to animal spotting. A car is a must as taxis are hard to come by.

The road layout is very bad; nearly every time we went somewhere, we had to travel past it and do a U-turn. It is a shame that there is not much left of the old city. Food was not the best, apart from breakfast at the hotel. The only time we found a good restaurant with nice food, our order got messed up, and it took 1 hour for the food to arrive. Did the temples, museum, and historic park; all worth a visit. AsianA hotel is a great hotel to stay for the 2 days. Tops in the Mall is the best Tops I have been to.

Nakhon Phanom has lived quietly within my heart for years—where the Mekong flows like a timeless ribbon of memory, carrying whispers between Laos and Thailand, reflecting Khammouane’s beauty like a mirror of dreams across its gentle current. In the rainy season, when the world softens and slows, the city speaks in hushed, tender tones. Raindrops fall like soft lullabies on empty streets, and every corner—touched by history, nature, and kind-hearted communities—feels closer, warmer, more alive. There is no rush here, no restless noise—only the steady breath of the river, like a quiet companion beside me, reminding me to drift, to pause, to feel. And in that stillness, I find myself— lingering longer, falling in love with each fleeting, beautiful moment.

The promenade / Walking Street along the Mekong is fabulous. There are public performance venues, places for kids to play, numerous shops and restaurants, large sculptures of the local fish. Sunset along the river glints off the chrome railings. Lots of fitness activities and joggers. Don't miss the Mut Mee Garden Restaurant (and Guest House} right along the Mekong. The owners are just a delight and a wonderful resource. Great vibe! The city punches way above its weight for a city of its population.

this is a large, sprawling industrial grid, with a historical center. it is quite formatted, impersonal and bland, but people are quite mild and many are pretty friendly, considering this is a city. food seems to be very sub-optimal in this place unless you are the westerner or other entity who likes all the gooey bland noodles. working in a city like this would be top notch, really convenient. it looks like a vibrant local nightlife to me. a vibrant LOCAL nightlife for those cosmopolitan creatures who dare dally outside starbug's. the exfat nightlife looked sad, sadder than pattaya, truly stale, cliquey and dull. this city is the gateway to the northeastern isaan region. it has quite an intriguing blend of issaan and central thailand culture, for those who are culture nerds. =
