"The "downtown" area is great with all the shops and restaurants. It's often hard to find parking as it gets busy; however, there is parking available off the main street if you don't mind walking a bit further. We also enjoy the mini golf in the area (Pirates Cove and Goony Golf). For breakfast, the Lone Bull is one of our favorites. Most restaurants we've tried for dinner are as expected for vacation towns (i.e., decent food but nothing overly special), but if you're looking for something slightly more "upscale" I'd recommend the Tavern on the Lake at Blue Water Manor, or Cate's Italian Garden in Bolton Landing."

"We came to visit at the perfect time, right before Memorial Day. The Main Street is pretty and very walkable, with reasonable parking and lots of little shops and restaurants (be sure to stop in at the Saratoga Olive Oil shop!). Yes the area is kinda touristy, but that’s to be expected. The surrounding areas are absolutely breathtaking. Definitely recommend for a nice vacation- but expect crowds if you come during the summer season."

"Saranac Lake has come a long way since I lived there 50 years ago. Clean with many new restaurant choices. More affordable, less crowded, and more local than touristy Lake Placid. Recommended day trips to Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake and the incredible array of hiking trails at Paul Smith's College a half hour away."

"I loved touring the fort, get there early before 11 to be able to see most of the demonstrations of the muskets. The cannon demonstration was nice and loud. The amount and beauty of canons was amazing. It was humbling to walk in the steps of so much history. The King's Garden was very nice with a walled garden and beautiful glass greenhouse from England. Although it was late in the season, there were still flowers to be seen and enjoyed. The views of Lake Champlain from all directions is breathtaking. Be sure to take a ride on the Carillion Boat for an entertaining and informative river cruise. Mt Defiance also has spectacular views of the lake and the mountains of Vermont on the other side. All of the site's staff are dressed in historic attire and are a wealth of knowledge on the fort and the battles."

"North Creek is near Gore Mountain. North Creek is a charming little town, which features a wonderful bar/restaurant called BarVino. BarVino's food is delicious, and has a large selections of wine and beer. North Creek has a fantastic Mosaic project that is spectacularly beautiful. It was created by a local artist with the help of many of her students. It is worth a trip to view it. There are stores which feature outdoor wear, art, food and novelties."

We absolutely loved our stay here! Our room and all the common areas were incredibly clean. Our room was huge and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were kind and so incredibly helpful. It was really great value for our money, and very close to the main part of the village. Breakfast was awesome! Huge kudos to all the staff; especially the front desk staff, the cleaning staff, and the staff in charge of breakfast. We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to others!

Our stay was nothing short of exceptional. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The service was warm, helpful, and attentive, making us feel truly welcomed. The entire place was spotless, super clean and clearly very well maintained. The location couldn’t be better: peaceful, beautiful, and just a short walking distance from everything we needed. And the view was absolutely fantastic l!!! Overall, it was a fantastic experience in every way. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and breathtaking surroundings. We will definitely be coming back in summer time

The property is very well maintained. The management definitely pays attention to detail. Danny was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. A true go getter. We highly recommend staying here. You won’t be disappointed.

Because of rain we went to the Lake Placid Olympic Center and were lucky to see a women's hockey tournament. We went to Whiteface Mountain which was awesome. Cost $50 to take our car up to the mountain and then an elevator ride up to the summit. A MUST DO! The walk around Mirror Lake did not allow us to see the Lake (disappointment) but the houses were neat.

Fantastic views of the mountain over the lake.

Fantastic views of the mountain over the lake. The Inn is an old classic wooden built accommodation place, like going back in time to the mid 1900's. The cafeteria dining hall offers a vast breakfast with good coffee and fresh fruits, Greek yogurt, eggs (a bit overcooked...but fine), and make-your-own-waffles. Efficient golf card drivers took me to my parked car (not right by the Inn). The hiking, swimming, boating, tennis, pickel ball options were fantastic. I was only there two days, and wish I could have stayed longer. As a solo traveler, most of the people there were friendly and welcoming.
