"We live about an hour south of Cleveland, Ohio. Erie is the prefect family getaway for us because it is only a 2-1/2 hour drive and offers a lot of family-friendly options. We went to Splash Lagoon, which is an indoor waterpark; this was the most costly thing we did. But it was worth it; the kids had a great time. I was bummed that they didn't have just a regular pool specifically for adults. Something adults can do away from the splashing and noise of screaming kids. But, they do offer a 21+ hot tub area. Which is absolutely lovely. :) We also went to the Erie Zoo. Which was absolutely amazing and a HUGE value for the price. It is VERY uneven in a LOT of areas, so if you have bad knees or ankles, be aware of that. I had to end up renting a scooter because of an old ankle injury. The terrain was just to uneven for me. Some of the enclosures seemed quite small for the animals in them, which is hard to look beyond at times. But, my kids didn't really notice, so I kept that observation to myself. I didn't want to alert them to the issue. I am just hopeful that the animals get moved to larger enclosures - or rotated in some way. The Jaguar enclosure was especially small. Highly recommend going to the observation deck inside the building with African culture information (I cannot remember the name of the building) As this higher viewpoint allows you to get a clear look at the rhinos. which are HUGE lol"
