"We were supposed to have the entire day on a layover, but our flight was 5 hours delayed so unfortunately we did not get to go to the botanical gardens nor the zoo - both of which are quite close to the hotel and airport. But we did eat at a great Italian restaurant recommended by the hotel staff - Adela's (separate review) - nice selection of free movies on a very large TV."

"We hiked in the vicinity which we highly recommend. Our hotel was about an 18 mile easy drive to downtown which provided a serene setting. We spent a day in Scottsdale/Old Town which is well worth a visit being pedestrian friendly, historic and filled with high end galleries, great shops and excellent restaurants and coffee (especially Cartel Coffee!). The hotels downtown look great and there is night life we didn't have (or care for) outside the city. We recommend Casa Mia for excellent Italian dining in a quaint casual/romantic setting with great service and food."

"The motel canceled my reservation because they overbooked but they couldn't cancel the good time that we had in Tempe. Thank goodness for the above and beyond efforts of the Studio 6 staff to accommodate us on short notice and the Chiefs topped it off by winning the Super Bowl. I recommend having some beers at Boulders On Broadway. Great food casual setting and beers from around the world on draft."

"This was not a pleasure trip for us. We were there to make arrangements for a friend who passed away, so we were not able to appreciate the area of the hotel much. It did have plenty of places to eat close in the area. We will be having to return again several times, and plan on staying at the Home 2 Suites by Hilton. My wife is a travel advisor, and she would recommend this hotel to her clients who travel to the area."

Also liked Craft 64 for best pizzas EVER! Lots of pleasant paved and unpaved walking trails but the Desert Botanical Gardens are the best. Don't miss Gertrude's Restaurant there. "This was the most run down, nasty place I have ever stayed. It was noisy with trains going by frequently, people talking loudly in the hallway, and doors slamming often. My brother and I did not feel safe there; it appeared to have drug trafficking goin on. People knocked on our door several times that night, we did not dare to answer. We had a relative pick us up and take us away as soon as they could get there in the very early morning. Would not recommend this place to anyone ever!"

The parking was excellent, no problem getting in or out. The weather was great, we had a lot of fun exploring the city also! There were lots of places to find shade if needed, and the locals were very accommodating, we were offered free sunscreen if we needed some, on multiple occasions. We had a great time! Go Padres!!"

"There are plenty of restaurants and great food which are not available in my city. We ate at Oregano’s Italian restaurant and had the best pizza there! The salad was amazing and delicious. We want to eat at other restaurants in this area as we were given many different recommendations of great places to eat and relax in. Caroline’s has the best tacos and the beans are amazing… this was a recommendation I was surprised to hear."

This was my 2nd time staying here. Both times were wonderful. We usually stay in Scottsdale, but there is something special about this place. I love the history, the staff, the spacious rooms and bathrooms, and all the amenities. The grounds are just beautiful. The spa is upscale with a private pool. There are 3 restaurants onsite, room service and a pool bar. We did still go into Scottsdale for brunch and dinner. Didn’t have trouble getting Uber to/from this location. Will definitely come back. I love this resort.

Everything! Our family loves this resort from the style, comfort, amenities, amazing staff, and of course the Oasis waterpark. We eat at the Lobby Grill predominantly because of the great quality of food & service. This also allows us to maximize our time at the waterpark and pools/spas before dinner.

Tempe is very walkable - even the shopping centers have walkways from the street through the parking lots. There's lots to do! I've been to Gilbert twice since my daughter moved there from Maryland in May of 2025. I have found Gilbert to be a very pleasant place - lots of friendly people - with a nice variety of shopping and restaurants, both in the downtown section and the suburbs. I had not visited the Phoenix area until my two trips in October and December. I'm a big fan now, and didn't even mind the daily excitement of navigating the main highways, including the NASCAR drivers who are adept at cutting over four lanes in one bold move. Frankly, Phoenix is the easiest big city in the country to navigate by car (I'm sure the natives disagree at the rush hours, but really, it's a breeze compared to NYC, L.A., Chicago, Boston, Houston, Atlanta, etc.). And the weather? Perfect!
