I was there in the off season so the city was not too...

I was there in the off season so the city was not too crowded. I am not sure that I would have enjoyed my visit if I had come in high season. Visit the Atchugarry Museum if you enjoy large scale outdoor sculptures. It is 30 minutes from town but well worth the drive. Budget at least three hours for this world class sculpture exhibit.

One of the most picturesque beach resorts on the beautiful Uruguayan coast. There are many tourist attractions nearby you definetlty want to visit, including the view of a fantastic sunset from the Capilla de San Antonio. You are also a 30-minute drive from Casapueblo, something you can not miss if you visit this part of the country.

We had a wonderful stay there. Beautiful architecture. The staff spoke english and were outstanding. We had a small electrical problem in our room and they upgraded us to a one bedroom apartment. It might have been because it was our 55th wedding anniversary. We had a spacious room with a balcony. They also had a beach area where we could use their chairs and umbrellas. We used their well suppled kitchen and ate in. I would reccommend this hotel for any visitor.

The area the hotel is located is wonderful.

The area the hotel is located is wonderful. There are a lot of well maintained private homes and gardens. But the central city itself has become overbuilt with gigantic apartment buildings.- like most major beach towns. Most of the stores are touristy and tacky. It's also sad to see that the peninsula with the old houses is in bad repair. And of course, the water is usually cold; it is not the Caribbean.

We have amazing beaches in New Zealand, so finding Piriapolis and its beach was an absolute treat. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly people. We enjoyed breakfast at the Argentino Hotel and excellent coffee at Donna Donas. There was friendly service at other hospitality businesses and at our local supermarket—a great place to do nothing much. It's an easy drive to the big smoke, Punta del Este, for retail therapy and a look around. The wildlife park is an enjoyable diversion from the beaches, should one feel in the mood for a walkabout. Piriapolis may be the best place to visit if you want to have a relaxing time.

It's hard to put a finger on just what makes José Ignacio so...

It's hard to put a finger on just what makes José Ignacio so entrancing. On the surface it's a rather ramshackle, unassuming little beach town. But upon further inspection, it's chock full of innovative, creative, whimsical architecture (mostly mid century modern), a very becalmed pace of life and dirt streets leading to sand-floored multi-starred restaurants full of of patrons who look like they've stepped out of a Neiman Marcus catalog. The dining was spectacular. Despite the under-the-radar sophistication, staff everywhere were welcoming, helpful and easygoing. Oh, and those gorgeous towering pine trees!

We enjoyed the city, the food, and the cleanliness. A visit to the art studio and museum Casapueblo is a must, to watch the sunset. Go later in the afternoon. Also visit the most southern point in Uruguay where the river La Plata meets the Atlantic Ocean.

Whilst enjoying punta this is more chilled out and a little bit cheaper, and I mean a little😂 I’ve been travelling for yrs and sunsets have never bothered me, not in the slightest And now I’m questioning everything 🤦‍♂️

Jose Ignacio is a beautiful place.

Jose Ignacio is a beautiful place. Beaches are very nice and you can find very expensive and nice restaurants. The village was a little bit destroyed with a big avenue at the entrance in replacement of the former street. A big mistake made by local authorities but it is still a beautiful place. A little bit too expensive. For these prices, the place should be wonderful. It was but it's not anymore. So sad local people destroyed this so beautiful natural place. But still very nice if you live in the region.
