JapanPension Moomin Papa is a very cute and cosy home from home. It was very warm with lovely underfloor heating, clean and tidy. You can order home cooked breakfast and dinner. The other travellers were nice and friendly. I loved my stay here!

United StatesWe cannot say enough great things about our stay at Meanwhile Woods. The location near the gondola is exceptional and there is an onsen next door. The kitchen is well equipped to make meals at home. The space is quiet and so peaceful. Marcus himself is the most gracious host one could ask for. This was an absolute 5/5 star stay. We do hope our travels bring us back to the myoko area again for a repeat visit. Do not hesitate to book this property, you won’t be disappointed in anything .

CanadaI felt so cozy and at home here! It was close enough to nozawaonen for me, just a 10 minue drive. I wanted to stay somewhere peaceful away from the main area, but still close to the slopes, so this was perfect! The sauna was amazing after a day of riding. The bed was super comfy, the home was very clean. The host, Mitch, was incredibly responsive and also offered a lot of local recommendations.

United StatesEverthing was perfect about this place. Food was excellent, staff was super helpful and the rooms were great. The hotspring (onsen) was nice as it was inside our cottage so it was private and very cool. Rooms were immaculate and the fridge and stove top with all necessary utensils was a definite plus! walkable to almost everything you need including the ski lifts at Akakura.

Lovely cosy guest house. View from the window was beautiful and our room faced the sunrise. Facilities were awesome. Room was comfortable with plenty of space. Breakfast was great. Didn’t go hungry. They also provided dinner if you didn’t want to walk into town.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the location is a short drive to the ski fields. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and the onsen is great and free to use. Would recommend and definitely stay again. Thank you.

At least our room was clean. Bedding was clean and mattresses comfortable.
The snow equipment dry room is decently sized and the lodge is a short 10 minute walk to Akakura Kanko gondola.
They have pickup and dropoff at Myoko Station free of charge if you request in advance.

Hotel had a very homely feel, and staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the onsen was great. We had a room with the balcony overlooking the main entrance so had a reasonable view of the snow falls, and it was also very quiet.

Tatami mat floors in the bedrooms and a decent drying room for ski gear.
Very central location in Akakura Onsen area around all the restaurants.

Breakfast was perfect. Good mix of Japanese and western style. Unlike many other hotels we stayed at on this trip Hotel Taiko served scrambled eggs that were actually hot. Coffee was ok. Great to have an option of the cafe for a espresso too. Great ski and board rental, bar, cafe, restaurant, drying room, onsen. Super convenient!

Worked perfectly for our ski trip to Lotte Arai Ski resort. It's only a 5 min drive to the resort which made getting to the slopes a breeze.
The house and rooms get toasty and warm with the heaters turned on and the bathroom and showers were nice and new.
The futons/mattresses were very comfortable and the comforters were very warm.
The garage is nice as well to have a snow free place to park.
If visiting in the winter and you don't have a 4WD or snowtires make sure you bring some chains.

Fabulous hosts, great food, clean, warm bedrooms and excellent living and dining room spaces. Nathan and Akiko have excellent knowledge of the local area and provided daily shuttles to ski fields and local restaurants. Highly recommend this accommodation for families and groups of friends.

Refre Hotel has a very cozy and welcoming atmosphere!! They served a delicious and healthy breakfasts and even served made to order omelets. We enjoyed the onsen, and were very close to the ski rental shop just a few minutes walk away. The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The owners couldn’t have been more welcoming!!
