This Ryokan was a great stop on our road trip. The room was beautiful and the service was outstanding. The chef even prepared special food to accommodate our dietary requirements, and the Onsen was beautiful and heightened our experience.

The private onsen with our room was amazing but so was the big private one that all guests can use for free without reservation- my husband and I enjoyed having the space since the room ones are small (but so convenient and lovely being outside). I have never been waited on hand and foot like this, the staff is so kind is good at what they do. The room and food were fantastic I wish I could have stayed longer.

The staff were so friendly, helpful, and fabulous! The onsen was magical, and the location was picturesque. I didn't want to leave. I went from a bustling city to this perfect little town, now I'm back in a bustling city, and I missed the tranquility as soon as I got to the train station.

Wonderful hosts and attentive to your needs. The home and its surroundings are absolutely stunning. We were the only guests for one night as we were hiking up to Narai the following day. The dinner meal course was an unforgettable culinary delight. Our brief stay was one of the best cultural experiences we had in Japan and I can only imagine Takimi Onsen during peak fall season in its magnificent glory.

The staff were friendly and very helpful. There is a free shuttle service from Tsumago and Nagiso to the hotel which was very helpful. The onsen was a lovely experience aespecially after walking part of the Nakasendo trail. Such a great idea to swap the men and women’s over at midnight so you can experience a different view of the mountains. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor baths. The meal was incredible, delicious and beautifully presented. It was great to have such fresh, local cuisine and helpful that each course was explained .Breakfast was also delicious and had several courses although each one was reasonably small.To have it served in our own Japanese style room was lovely .
