The Ryokan is located very close to the station which is super easy. The staff is really lovely and they give you plenty of recommendations regarding activities, restaurants, ... Everything was super clean and organised. I would recommend this place to anyone.

This traditional inn is a little jewel. We were blown away by the kindness and hospitality of the ladies who run the place. It’s located a bit outside of town, but Emi and Junko were always happy to give us a ride. The meals are gorgeously prepared feasts - good luck if you can finish! The hotel also arranged a “Zazen experience” at a historic temple nearby, which was very interesting. We will treasure our memories of the Totoro and its wonderful staff!

First of all, the foods were all delicious. Eat all you can was definitely more than worthy of the price. Our room with the view of the lake was really comforting. The location of the hotel was close to all the famous tourist spot around the area.

Wonderful hosts and attentive to your needs. The home and its surroundings are absolutely stunning. We were the only guests for one night as we were hiking up to Narai the following day. The dinner meal course was an unforgettable culinary delight. Our brief stay was one of the best cultural experiences we had in Japan and I can only imagine Takimi Onsen during peak fall season in its magnificent glory.

Hotel Fuki no Mori is a 20-minute ride from JR Nagiso Train Station on the hotel’s free shuttle. Guests can enjoy walks at the garden or the scenic areas surrounding the hotel.

The staff were friendly and very helpful. There is a free shuttle service from Tsumago and Nagiso to the hotel which was very helpful. The onsen was a lovely experience aespecially after walking part of the Nakasendo trail. Such a great idea to swap the men and women’s over at midnight so you can experience a different view of the mountains. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor baths. The meal was incredible, delicious and beautifully presented. It was great to have such fresh, local cuisine and helpful that each course was explained .Breakfast was also delicious and had several courses although each one was reasonably small.To have it served in our own Japanese style room was lovely .

This was an amazing inn, and our family really enjoyed our time here. Our host Kagami-san was unbelievably attentive and served incredible food at each meal. If you are interested in a relaxing getaway that allows you to slow down and experience a traditional Japanese ryokan, then this is a perfect option.

The private onsen with our room was amazing but so was the big private one that all guests can use for free without reservation- my husband and I enjoyed having the space since the room ones are small (but so convenient and lovely being outside). I have never been waited on hand and foot like this, the staff is so kind is good at what they do. The room and food were fantastic I wish I could have stayed longer.
