Self-Catering Accommodations in Szántód

Overall, the picture looks wonderful, but when it comes to the details, there are many shortcomings. The hotel itself is beautiful, and for children it is truly a paradise. However, despite having a half-board package, the first surprise came at our very first dinner. We arrived about an hour before the restaurant closed, and there was almost no food left. Even worse, drinks were not included and had to be purchased separately. There was not even a basic water station available. For a five-star hotel, charging guests even for water during dinner is, in our opinion, a major disappointment and a serious flaw. We were also very disappointed that both at breakfast and dinner, despite the official serving hours, many dishes were already empty 30–60 minutes before closing and were not being replenished. We had to ask staff for basic things such as a spoon, and even had to request a banana for our child because they had already been removed. The watermelon looked old and poorly presented, and overall the food appeared to be of rather low quality. The service throughout the hotel was very weak, especially considering the hotel's category and prices. In addition, almost everything in the hotel is very expensive. The resort has great potential and beautiful facilities, but unfortunately the level of service and attention to guests falls far below what we would expect from a five-star property.

Our family enjoyed the Gyorfi Apartmanhaz! It was well located to the beach, restaurants and activities. The restaurant attached to the apartmanhaz provided excellent service and were an absolute delight to meet!!

The beds are comfortable. There is a good play area for kids. Breakfast is OK. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the cottage to the lake. The staff are friendly, helpful and kind. We would recommend the rooms to families.

This property was one of the most impressive rentals that I’ve ever booked. New construction, well equipped, and in a great location. I didn’t want to leave.

Nice location, close to everything, and very nice host

Very nice host, we stayed for one night during our cycle trip.

Huge area for a small child to discover, big playground just outside the apartment, lots of friendly animals (and horse riders too!). There was barely anyone else around during our stay so it felt like we owned the place. The air felt clean and it was fairly quiet except for the traffic from national road 7. The kitchen and the bathroom seem recently renovated and are well equipped. Despite the scorching heat outside, the thick walls and roof kept the apartment pleasant at 24C.

The apartment is modern, very well equipped, comfortable. Our host, Istvan and his wife were very kind and attentive, explained everything in detail. There was even fresh flower in the room as a gesture. An absolute highlight is the protected (glass wall and sunshade) terrace with direct access to the community garden and beach. There were two assigned sun loungers with umbrella with the apartment and we even had a SUP to enjoy during our stay. The place is incredibly calm, not many people around, and the Beach Bar next door offers excellent drinks and meals if you don’t feel like cooking. Perfect spot for a quiet, seamless, joyful vacation. Highly recommended, we will be happy to come back any time.

We liked the location and the nice building&garden. The pool was also nice but we didn’t have enough time to enjoy it.

We had the most amazing time at this villa – truly one of our favourite holidays ever! The location was absolutely fantastic, right on Lake Balaton with private access to the water. The gardens were spacious and perfect for the kids to run around safely, with plenty of sun loungers and outdoor dining areas for the whole family to enjoy. One of the highlights was having use of the two boats included – no extra or silly charges – and all the garden equipment was available for us to enjoy. From the garden, there was direct access to the free strand with a lovely small sandy beach that was shallow and clean – perfect for little ones. There was also a restaurant and bar just steps away, and a playground that we could watch the kids play in from the balcony. So ideal! The views, sounds, and wildlife around the lake were simply breathtaking – the sunrises and sunsets were unforgettable. Even though it’s in a holiday area, the villa felt incredibly peaceful and secluded. We never had to worry about the kids making noise while playing and enjoying themselves. Inside, the villa was just as wonderful. It has two apartments with huge rooms, super clean and comfortable furnishings, and lovely fresh linens. We had everything we needed. Gabriella, the host, was absolutely lovely – kind, helpful, and respectful throughout our stay. We made memories here that will stay with us forever.
