Gontaya was such a lovely stay. The cabin is cozy, well-equipped, and thoughtfully set in a scenic, peaceful area — the kind of place you genuinely don’t mind staying in and slowing down. Everything was comfortable and well maintained, making it easy to settle in and relax. The host was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. A fun bonus was getting to meet Gonta, the villa’s celebrity dog — absolutely charming and a great touch to the experience. It’s a quiet neighbourhood, so having a car is recommended, as public transport access may be limited. Overall, a wonderful and relaxing getaway that we truly enjoyed.

I stayed at Shin’s place in Oct. It started to get cold at night and early morning. The place was clean and comfortable. His mom shared with us very nice chiffon cakes she baked. The persimmons from his garden were very delicious. Thank you very much for your hospitality. They were several places to visit within an hour drive. We spent a good evening at the lunar observatory for the star gazing. Mt Aso is worth a visit. We walked along beautiful Takachiho trial. The overall stay and visit was amazing. We would love to come back again in the future.

Our stay at Momiji was great! The old Japanese house was warm and homey and the hosts were kind and welcoming. Two cats were a bonus. Dinner at the Thai restaurant was exceptional and highly recommended! I would be back anytime and ideally would stay for longer!

I LOVED everything about this place! EVERYTHING!! The host had treats for the kids and adults. There was chopped up vegetables, eggs, bacon, fruit, all for free. The host went above and beyond on everything!! I will compare all places to this and I know I'll be let down every time. I cannot recommend this place enough. Comfy beds, pjs, slippers, extra blankets, etc. AMAZING!!

Recently built modern Japanese style house. Great location and views. Incredible hospitality. Great breakfast. Great recommendations for dinner.

Location is a bit rural and there is no convenient store or restaurant nearby. The only way get here is by car but the sign on the roadside is small and you might miss it during when dark. However, the view and the vibe is absolutely perfect. This is a modern place where you can truly immerse yourself in the nature of Minami Aso. And by the way you can find most necessary tools and spices in the shared room if you want to cook yourself a dinner.

Clean and comfortable. Very nice for someone who do not want to communicate with others (because staff always talk to you via auto generated message). You will get the procedure to access the property on the day that you check-in.

A very nice cottage in the middle of nature with a stunning view. Very spacious, comfortable, well equipped. We enjoyed our stay.
