Our only regret is that we were able to stay in this beautiful place for just one night. Since it gets fully booked on weekends, make sure to reserve in advance. It’s a truly stunning and peaceful location with separate cabins, so no one will disturb you. Everything is brand new — the place has been operating for only one year. Living right by the water is priceless: watching the sunrise, relaxing on the loungers, and gazing at the stars at night. There is an easy entry into incredibly blue, crystal-clear water. For now, there are only four cabins, so there are few guests, making it very calm and pleasant both day and night. There is no road noise nearby at all. The restaurant is small, but the food is absolutely delicious. The owner of the hotel is extremely kind, attentive, and responsible. I also highly recommend visiting the ancient pyramid of — it’s the oldest pyramid in the area, yet it was opened to the public only a year ago. Entrance is free, the pyramid rises above the jungle and can still be climbed, and the infrastructure and road are completely new. It’s only a 30-minute drive from the center of . An unforgettable experience — we will definitely come back.

Casa Cactus Buenavista was the perfect peaceful escape! The lush gardens full of birds, the beautiful pool, and our charming casita with a super comfortable bed, hammock and private terrace made it easy to relax. The WiFi worked great throughout our stay, which was a big plus. The staff — Jey, Sebastián and Mia — were warm, attentive, and helped with everything from taxis to beach clubs. We took an ADO bus to Bacalar and a short taxi (about 30 mins / 200–250 pesos) to the property, and got around easily without a car. We loved the breakfast and dinner plan — every meal was delicious (favorites were butter chicken, cochinita pibil and tuna poke bowl!). We also recommend Sebastián’s private sailing tour — a serene experience with guacamole and drinks on the beautiful northern lagoon. The small town of Buenavista feels rustic, safe and peaceful, with lagoon access a short walk away. We highly, highly recommend staying here!

We particularly liked the energy of the place and the staff. We felt very welcome and "at home" right from the start. Rodrigo showed us around the whole complex and answered our questions. We really liked the Nest and Julia's yoga classes were brilliant. The location is also great if you want to walk to the center or go out to eat. The hotel's own bikes were also good. We booked a massage on the last day: Julie and Abdel did a great job.

Zayali Bacalar is a recently renovated condo hotel in Bacalar where guests can make the most of its outdoor swimming pool and garden. The condo hotel also offers facilities for disabled guests.
