The property and room were very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool was small but refreshing during those hot Merida days. Casa Sofia even has a stackable washer and dryer (it's hidden near the pool) which was so nice to be able to use after visiting nearby cenotes. There were some leaves in the pool from the tree cover but that was to be expected. Although we never met Ms. Sofia personally, she was communicative and responsive via message and her directions were clear to access the property and room. The A/C was COLD! The shower had great water pressure. The internet worked great and I was able to videoconference without issue/lag. There was a fully equipped kitchen on the both floors and bins to store your food in the fridge were clearly marked. I would describe Casa Sofia as the grown-up person's hostel. The area is good. If you're coming from the US, then the area can seem a little sketchy. This is simply not true. This is a safe and typical neighborhood in any Mexican state/city. The breakfast next door was fantastic - tortas for 30 pesos - and in a variety; never got sick either. Uber rides to Centro and Paseo de Montejo ranged from $3-$6 USD which we found very reasonable. We would absolutely stay here again as we thought that Casa Sofia was a great value.

It’s a beautiful hotel, with an A+ staff consistently keeping the facilities so clean. The team was extremely helpful and made our stay awesome, with the ladies at reception always helping us get to where we needed to go and offering their best local recommendations. It’s close to everything but feels like you’re in a local neighbourhood. We were upgraded to a large room. It’s so spacious, AC was crisp (for Merida heat!), pillows were super fluffy and the bed sleeps firm. Also, the coffee maker and coffee was a really great start to the morning. The hotel is so new, and they just rolled out their breakfast at the end of our stay and it was great: made-to-order eggs, fresh fruit, cereal, toast, yogurt, coffee and orange juice. The pool area on the second floor was great for an evening dip, and that bar area is just getting off the ground. Definitely recommend and will come back soon!

We liked everything about Casa Loreto. The staff were friendly, helpful, and did everything they could to make us comfortable. The food was excellent, especially breakfast. Our room was cleaned every day and coffee restocked. The room was spacious and aesthetically pleasing, with a lovely outdoor space with a sitting tub and a hammock. Loved the pool. We took ubers back and forth to museums and restaurants. Very inexpensive. Our first walk into the zocalo was too noisy and a bit too much traffic along the street. But it was incredibly easy to go back and forth.
