Accommodations in Weetebula

Mario is a nice eco-friendly resort. I first booked it because it's beach front and not far from the airport (20 minutes drive), so not expecting much, and it turns out to be a surprise: spacious, with miles of beach with clean white sand; room is beautiful but hard to photograph, so it's a lot nicer than the posted photos; staff is very professional and speaks perfect English; food and service are both great (especially the grilled chicken), and after staying in various places in Sumba for over a week now, I can say that Mario serves the best food with most reasonable price; also Starlink is now available in Sumba so internet is reliable. By being the first resort set up in Sumba, everything holds up very well, nothing fancy but very very comfortable, I certainly can feel a mood lift after our first night there.

The most comfortable bed in Indonesia so far! Clean, cheap, friendly, quiet, a stone's throw from the airport. I genuinely loved this place. Don't expect a lavish breakfast in this place and be grateful for what you get, bread and coffee.

Such a kind welcome from the staff. Simple and clean, great hot shower, no luxury but you don't pay for that. This is located in a study center for local culture and in a beautiful setting.
